I have a Bessie Wilkerson who married J.K.Polk Garrett about 1913 as she gave birth to James Terrill Garrett in Wayne County in 1914. Her husband was much older and had children by a previous marriage. I have had little success in finding a Garrett family contact; and since I am in the middle of writing a family history I would certainly like to include as much information on the Garretts that apply. tThanks for your help. Recently I lost all my e-mail addresses from MY computer plus some files that I had not had time to download. So, I am in the process of reconstructing from what hard copies I did have. Would all cousins who have information on George Wilkerson, his wife, Tiriece Allen, her parents- Henry Allen and his wife, Nancy Jones and any of their children, PLEASE, please, write to me again? I am in the middle of the book and I do want to give credit to each of you!!! Plus I do want each line to proof your information again before I publish. What to you think about the title- " THE WILKERSONS- from England to Texas"? SOME allied families from the area included are Brammer, Conn, Decker, Garrett, Frealy, Sullivan, Sexton, Slaven, Thurston, Weston, Wright, Yancy. I had luckily found this information at the Jamestown Library my FIRST visit there in 1988. These are the grandchildren of George and Tiriece (Allen) Wilkerson, my great grandparents. They are the ones that I can not locate. Both died after 1891 and are not in the 1900 Russell Co Census. I am planning a trip back to Clinton, Wayne, Casey, Pulaski and Russell County this summer. I'm sure there is much more information out there than I can find on my short visits. (I take a lot of nostalgia photos of the local scenes) But that is why this site is so valuable to me! Does anyone know if there is an newspaper archive on line for this area and era? Thanks -Marie in Texas

Census reports are full of errors. I would say that the William G. Passmore in 1880 Russell County is identical to the William T. or L. Hi, May I make a few corrections to your Moses Harkness Wilson family? Moses Harkness Wilson was born 1 Nov 1807 and died 17 Jan 1862. He was a Baptist Minister in Russell Co, KY as was his father Nathaniel. Melissa was never known as Malita, this was the bad spelling of the County Clerk. Her mother Agnes Stephens was the younger sister of Susannah Stephens which made Moses and Melissa first cousins. When Moses H. Wilson submitted the marriage of Mellissa's sister Malinda to Sherwood Stephens he incorrectly wrote the name Shadrack Stephens. Shadrack was my gr, gr grandfather and was married to Jemima Roy at the time. The first child of Moses and Melissa was Martha A. I know nothing about her. The next child was Josiah E., not Jocyrus. Again, bad spelling. Sampson Wilson was born 1 Dec 1837 and died 23 May 1915. Rebecca Wilson married Stephen Wilson 17 Jul 1860. Write me if you want info on Cyrus Walker Wilson. The second Moses Harkness Wilson was the son of Moses Wilson and Ann Stephens. The Wilson and Stephens family are intermarried many times starting in Henry Co, VA. Your info from the book by William Surber Wilson was given to Surber by Dr. Walter Wayne Smith who worked on the Wilson, Stephens, Hopper and Harris families for over 50 years. You will see his name mentioned on the first page of Surber's book as his source. Surber was the grandson of William Cornell Stephens, Dr. Smith was his gr grandson and I am his gr, gr, gr granddaughter. I have been to Dr. Smith's collection in Rowan Co, NC four times and plan on returning soon. Rosemary >From: "Glenda J.
