Ok, I'm here making a plea..............I am desperately trying to find a picture of James E. Acre and/or Nancy Elizabeth Amos.........my husbands great great grandfather & grandmother. James was born actually on the Russell /Adair Co. line in 1833 and died in 1915 in Russell Co., KY. He is buried in the ACREE Burial Grounds off Highway 80 on what is now the Boyce Stapp Farm off Providence Church Rd. By some miracle I have been able to get a picture of his 1/2 brother given to me by Allen Long and received with much appreciation. I know there has to be some photo's floating around out there somewhere but absolutely have no idea where..... Anyone having any knowledge of any ACRE/ACREE pictures would you be so kind as to let me know and I'll gladly beg, borrow or pay to have them copied either by a photo lab or just copied by Kinko's or Instant Copy onto laser paper. That works wonderfully. I can't give you my first born because he has too many other obligations.....unless you want 3 new grandchildren....... I thank you so much........... Marilyn Phelps wife of Leo J. Phelps, grandson of Lera E. Deener, gr grandson of Sarah L. Acre, gr gr grandson Of James E. Acre and Nancy Elizabeth Amos.
I also meant to mention that I had received some photo's of the George Bryant Foley and Silas Livingston Foley families from Phil Penny..... Marilyn
I am in possession of stacks of pictures........mostly taken between 1890 and 1930........in Russell Co., KY....maybe some in Adair Co. I rather think though that most of them were from Russell Springs in the Humble, Webb's Crossroads area. I could be wrong......... Some of these people are total strangers, but a lot are kinfolk......I just can't tell the difference all these years later......... I believe that some are RICHARDSONS, some are LEACH's, some are OWENS, some are definitely FOLEY, some are REXROATS, some are WILKERSONS, some with a lot of wishful thinking are PHELPS. I have a few non relatives that I have names on, such as Dameron, Williams, one Twyford, Cunningham, etc. What I wonder is if any of you have any pictures of the above mentioned families taken about that timeframe that I could compare with my pictures......I have been able to place some of my unnamed doing just that, but I'm afraid I have so many more.....I have a lot of babies that I'm afraid we will never place........cute as they are..... I have received a couple of Richardson pictures from Glenda Harrel that I was thankful for. If anyone has any ideas about how we can identify some of these people, please share it with me. I tried the newspapers and even sent them a couple of discs with .tif images on them but they never did anything with them. I thought maybe they could put a small section in the paper of "Do you remember" or something like that. Any help would be appreciated. Marilyn Phelps.........w/o Leo J. Phelps, b: Humble, KY 1933 s/o Flora Lee Foley and Nathan Osbie Phelps, gs/o Festal Herman Foley and Mary Lou Dutton, ggs/o Granville King Foley and Lucinda Isobel Owens (who was dau. of Charlie Owens and Nancy Jane Richardson,)( dau. of Jackson D. Good morning everyone. I am a descendent of John George of the 12th Ky. Inf. who enlisted in 1862 at Camp Clio,Ky. Does anyone know the probable location of this camp? Also, I want to encourage everyone to go to the Mill Springs Confederate Cemetery and take the guided tour with Mr. Don Patterson. He showed me the corn field the 12th came across to join the Battle of Mill Springs and awarded me a Descendents Ribbon as well as a piece of the "Zolly Tree". In my exitement I forgot to ask Don where Camp Clio was located! A wonderful experience!! Don is very enthusiastic and makes the Civil War come alive in his narratives. I did this about a year ago and the memory of this occasion will be with me always. Thanks, Sharon

William and James settled in Lafayette IN. Thanx for any help.

This Brown line is my line too. My mother was a Brown. Her dad was Grover C. Brown. His dad was John Brown. John was the son of Calvin Brown. That's about the extent of my info that I can recall right now. Hollis Hudson gave me most of my facts years ago. He lived on the farm Calvin Brown was to have lived on and was also buried there somewhere. Mr. Hudson said he was trying to find Calvin's grave, but that has to have been over 20 years ago. Hollis has since passed away and I'm not sure if anyone has taken up where he left off researching the Brown family.
