    3. Hello Everyone! I have been reading these postings about the McElroy's. I'm a descendent of John Francis McElroy born 4 July 1845, Ky and Susannah Hughes born 3 Oct 1838, Ky. I'm sure we have a connection some where! I would be more than happy to compare and share our notes. momroost@bbtel.com Nancy Blair Smithson ----- Original Message ----- From: <cjrussell14@yahoo.com> To: <KYRUSSEL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 06, 2004 4:14 PM Subject: [RUSSELL COUNTY, KY] Re: Hill, Eads and McElroy > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: McElroy, Eades > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XBB.2ACE/1412.2.2.1.1.1 > > Message Board Post: > > This has been the closest I have found to my McElroy's. "Was Known Over Kentucy As Political Leader and Business Man. Mr. Terry Lankfort Humble died at his home on East Main Street Sunday morning, at an early hour, after an illness of more than three years. He was a native of Russell county, but spent most of his young and young manhood in Pulaski county, where he became very prominent in business and political life, being an ardent Republican, and was intimate with the leaders of that party in the eastern part of the state. Mr. Humble lived in Tompkinsville for about sixteen years, whee he engaged in the lumber business and became one of the most prominent citizens of Monroe County. After coming to Monroe county, he was married to Mrs. Lucy Gray, a sister of Judge Basil Richardson of this place, who survives him. He is also survived by a daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Hershell Boggess of Louisville. Eleven years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Humble moved to Glasgow and bought the brick residence on East Main Street, which they have sin! ce occupied. He was stepping to the front of Barren county and developing into a man of great influence, when three years ago he was stricken with a fatal malady, which finally removed him from this life. He is survived by several brothers who live in Eastern Kentucky, the well known lumber man, McClendon Bros., of Monroe County being nephews. Mr. Humble was a man of strong personality, and was a natural leader of men, and his ultimely death arouses much sorrow in the community, and leaves a vacancy in the county which he loved, as well as the Baptist church to which he was devoted. Mr. Humble was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity, and was active in all movements for the advancement of his community, andhis death is widely mourned. Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon by Rev. J. H. Swann of Tompkinsville, assisted by Rev. J. A. Easley of the Baptist Church of this place, followed by burial in the Glasgow Cemtery, under the auspices of the ! Mason from Tompkinsville, Bethlehem and this place. Among out of town visitors who attended the funeral, aside from the Masons, were two of his brothers, Henry and Lewis Humble and a number of relatives from Somerset, his daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Boggess and family of Louisville" Unknown Glasgow KY newspaper.
