The Hattie I'm looking for was born in 1887 and died somewhere between 1900 and 1910 being only 13-23 years old. She never had children and I don't know if she ever married. I did run across another Hattie McGowan about a year ago but I looked all through my notes and couldn't find anything on her. I probably didn't write anything down because it wasn't the Hattie I was looking for. If I find anything I'll let you know.

    2. Pat, I cant shed much information on Isham. We may have different ones. However, this is what I know (I have been on hiatus with genealogy, this is just what I know off the cuff without digging through my stuff). He did live in Russell County. He is listed in the 1850 with wife Julian & Hughes children. He is listed in one of the later censuses ( 1860 or 1870) where he lived in Jamestown, occupation "retired". He was widowed by the 1840s because during that decade he married my gggg grandmother. His children lived in the area also. I have been to the Russell County Courthouse many times and have seen the Bolins listed there, in land records and such. Gina

    3. Is anyone researching the James HAYNES /HAINES Ann ELLIS family from VA c. 1790 -1800s. They were married in Greenbrier W/VA Oct. 8, 1786. I have seen the name Annie HAYNES mentioned several times in various searches/documents. Would this be the Ann ELLIS who m. James HAYNES in 1786 in Greenbrier? I am also interested in the family of James HAYNES and Sarah JACKSON m. Russell Co. TN, but I don't know the date. I believe this James HAYNES to be the son of a William HAYNES of VA who d. c. 1800 VA. This James HAYNES was b. 1755 VA d. 1833 Russell Co. KY. Thanks. Elaine Suhre

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XBB.2ACE/1736 Message Board Post: I have finally gotten around to making My Kentucky Death Certificate CD number Two. Here are the rules and the changes for contributing and obtaining a CD. 1. you MUST submit atleast 5 death certificates to the project. I would prefer the Death Certificates to be hard copies mailed to me at my home address. The reason I am requesting hard copies is that I would like to donate them to the library here in town. However, if it isn't possible I know some people have them on their computer and not a hard copy. Then they must be sent to me as a JPEG and I HAVE TO know in ADVANCE before you send them so my inbox doesn't become over loaded. 2. The Death Certificate MUST have a Kentucky connection. 3. It was requested last time that there be some contact information on the Death Certificate. This is to difficult for me to do or to time consuming, but if you want to hand write your e-mail address on the Death Certificate this would be a great way to pass along the information in case someone sees a connection. 4. The price has gone up. Last time it actually cost me money to make the CD so this time the cost is $3.00 per CD. Yes, you can order more than one CD but remember there is a minimum of 5 Death Certificates per CD. The reason for the minimum is that I want to fill up the CD to make it more useful for all. Right now I have approximately 1,000 death certificates and the CD will hold about 2,000. The last CD contained 1,940 Death certificates. 5. Checks and DC's Can be mailed to me at Cassy Sommers 1407 Woodwind Ct Corbin, Kentucky 40701 6. There will be no exceptions this time the CD will go out by January 15th with or without the 2,000 DC's if we get that many before the 15th it will go out sooner. Hope all will join in and please feel free to pass this message around to anyone who has a Kentucky connection. Cassy. PS visit me at Tombstone Central

    3. I have a book called "Russell County, Kentucky History & Families" and it has a couple of the towns listed in it. On page 23 under "Steamboat on the Cumberland" it lists Shoals in our area. It has Wild Goose then in parenthesis it says (Rowena). On page 37 it has "Long Bottom Community (Now Covered byt he Lake". It states: "Russell County lost the Long Bottom Community when the Wolf Creek Dam was built. It was a small community between Rowena and Dendall, Kentucky. Long Bottom was in the southern part of Russell County and followed along the flat land of the Cumberland River. It was an enclosed area with the river on one side and a very steep hill on the other side. Highway 127 from the Lake Cumberland State Park entrance to the Dam is on top of this hill which now overlooks the lake. This is where Long Bottom Community was located." This book shows a map of Russell County before the lake was formed and it shows Rowena but not the other towns you mentioned. I bought my book from the Russell County Historical Society but you might try writing the publisher, Turner Publishing Company, 412 Broadway, P.O. Box 3101 Paducah, KY 42002-3101. It was copywrited in 1996. It's got a lot of local histories in it so is well worth the price. Also, if you have any more info on James and Appy in Russell County by 1860. There is a Samuel P and Matilda Leach in Russell County too...as well as John Y and Nancy, by 1870. Since your John Y is the same age as my John (from 1850 census of William Sullivan John was 21), I have to wonder where mine went. I know Reuben was killed in the Civil War. Perhaps John was too. I have some KY Civil War rosters of the 12th Volunteer Infantry and John doesn't show on them...but I find other rosters online and he does. It is confusing to find that the rosters VARY from one source to another. Anyway, any linking information to the Green County Sullivans that appeared in Russell County would be greatly appreciated.
