Great Rowan County resource is maintained by Teri Pettit at http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyrowan/ I also have interests in Morgan and Carter counties as well as Rowan and Elliott and some in Lewis County also. Most of the lines seem to have originated in or around Scott and Wythe Counties in VA in the late 1700's and settled into KY by the mid 1800's. My specific lines are CONN KEGLEY BLACK PETITT TRENT CLARK SHELTON RIDDLE DeHART COX PENNINGTON HELDERBRAND THOMPSON BUTLER just to name a few! I have most of my lines posted on Rootsweb Freepages and would be happy to send the addresses to anyone interested in looking at what I have gathered. The CONN and KEGLEY databases are considerable. Dianna in MO >> Hi Dianna, Thanks for your warm welcome. I am not new to the search nor to the lists other than this one. I do't know why I never subscribed but just did it today and thought I would give it a try. I am sure you see me helping others if you hang out much on the County web sites and on Genforum as well. I have been at the genealogical search for over 25 years but just about 3 on the computer. I am familiar with one Dehart /Kegley connection that might be yours. Martin Dehart and Cora Jane Kegley.? I think I saw their names on Teri's list of surnames too. My names in the Rowan Co Area are MARKWELL, GREGORY, ROYSE/ROYCE/RICE,TABOR, HIATT/HYATT, Just to name a few. Oh! and Ellington ....just one tho. His name was John Miller Ellington and he was married to a McCarty woman ca. 1860. She was from the BAth Co. area... Thanks again for the welcome! Vivian
