4-17-2009: From Richmond, Indiana "Pal-Item" RICHMOND, Ind. -- Irene Burke, age 87, of Richmond, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Golden Living Center. She was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Brodhead, Ky., to Arthur Sr. and Susie Cash Harris and moved to Richmond in 1940 from Liberty, Ind. Irene was a homemaker. She was a member of Boston United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Joan Truelove and husband Jim and Patricia Buckland and husband Jack, both of Richmond; son, Donald Burke of Richmond; six grandchildren, Anita Soderling (Pete) of Arizona, Tony Cain of Wheaton, Ill., David Buckland (Denise) of Zionsville, Ind., Randy Cain of New Albany, Ind., Julie Buckland-Carpenter (Don) of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Eric Buckland (Lori) of Brownsburg, Ind.; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Elizabeth Harris of Brodhead, Ky.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jasper L. Burke, who died in 1995; sister, Lora Jean Harris; and brothers, James Harris, Arthur Harris Jr. and Douglas Harris. Visitation for Irene Burke will be from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond. Funeral service will be at noon Saturday with Rev.
