10-31-2009: From Richmond, Indiana "Pal-Item" RICHMOND, Ind. -- Rev. Elthur L. Hale, age 87, of Richmond, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Reid Hospital. Born June 30, 1922, in Orlando, Ky., to Henry and Clara B. Allen Hale, he was a resident of this area most of his life. Rev. Elthur was a graduate of Berea College. He was a World War II Army veteran. Rev. Elthur pastored for 40 years, pastoring at 13th Street, Pentecostal Church of Richmond and retired from Kings Highway Holiness Church. Survivors include his wife, A. Christine Hale, to whom he was married Sept. 24, 1943; son, Alton R. Hale and his wife Sharon of Connersville; grandchildren, Jeffrey R. Hale, Curtis A. Hale, Alexander L. Hale, Alton R. Hale II and Vanessa K. Hale, H. Nathan Vest; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold E. Hale of Richmond; sisters, Velma M. Abrams of Richmond and Freda M. Rose of Richmond, Ky.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara B. Hale. Visitation for Rev. Elthur L. Hale will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Kings Highway Holiness Church, 1403 S. Ninth St., Richmond. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Kings Highway Holiness Church with Rev. Randall Adams and Rev. Henry Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
