    3. 5-22-2008: Richmond, Indiana "Pal-Item" RICHMOND, Ind. -- Vernon R. Coffey, age 84, of Richmond, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at his residence. He was born April 3, 1924, in Dayton, Ohio, to Rector and Julia Townson Coffey and raised in Hummel, Ky., in Rock Castle County. Vernon was a World War II Army veteran serving under General Patton in the Third Army. He was owner/operator of Coffey Drywall for over 40 years. Vernon was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, auto racing and his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Stella M. Clark Coffey; sons, Robert "Bob" Coffey of New Lisbon, Ind., and James "Jim" Coffey and his wife Sandy of Richmond; daughter, Kimberly Moore-Ryan of Richmond; grandchildren, Brandon Moore of Florida, Julia and Sarah Coffey of New Lisbon, Nathan Rex Coffey, Renee Ryan, Jeremy Coffey and Ashlee Coffey, all of Richmond; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Visitation for Vernon Coffey will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Doan & Mills with Rev. Lester Maples officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
