10-08-2008: From Richmond, Indiana "Pal-Item" RICHMOND, Ind. -- Sudie Kern, age 82, of Richmond, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Pinehurst CLC & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. Born Aug. 16, 1926, in Rockcastle County, Ky., to Arthur and Ora Mullins Morris, she lived most of her life in this area. Sudie was owner/operator of Saylor Brothers Grocery for 35 years and worked for the Dunn Mental Health Center for 20 years. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Gary Saylor of Richmond and Randy Saylor (Kim) of Chandler, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Shannon Morgan (Dan), Kristen Hardesty (Larry), and Jason Saylor (Sandra), all of Richmond, Adam Saylor and Jacob Saylor of Phoenix, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Alma Ward of New Paris, Ohio, and Barbara Morris of Lexington, Ky.; nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Marvin Saylor; husband, Howard Kern; three sisters and five brothers; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Saylor. Visitation for Sudie Kern will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3469 Hillcrest Road, Richmond, with Rev. Frank Holman officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
