    1. [KYROCKCA] RE LAWRENCE DNA TESTING
    2. Jeanie Goff
    3. I am looking for living male Lawrence decendants from the Cornellius Lawrence (b 19 Aug 1799 Va & d 1893 Rockcastle Co KY) and his brother Tartulas (b 1797 Va & d 1876 Rockcastle Co KY) Both brothers had several male children. I would like to contact any body that follows the male line that would be willing to join in on a Lawrence family DNA study group. I would be willing to pay for half of the testing. The results would help I.D. the Rockcastle/Puluski KY line and to verify that they are son's of William and Sarah (Boothe) Lawrence. It will also help prove William is the son of Elder John Lawrence line. Plz contact me for further info and I will give you all the info. My son has already been tested and there is about 118 people that are presently involved in the Lawrence name study. If you know of anyone that is in the male line, I would appreciate any leads. Thank You Jeanie Goff Port Angeles, wa widowgoff40@yahoo.com

    1. [KYROCKCA] Anderson Hayes and Elizabeth Gordon family
    2. Looking for any information on the following family. I am mostly interested in Elizabeth. 1 Anderson Hayes b: Abt. 1818 in Tennessee +Elizabeth Gordon b: Abt. 1820 in North Carolina m: 27 Sep 1848 in Grainger County, Tennessee 2 James H Hayes b: Abt. 1849 in Tennessee 2 Thomas Jefferson Hayes b: 06 Dec 1850 in Grainger County. Tennessee d: 29 Mar 1933 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky +Nancy A Griffin b: Abt. 1856 m: 02 Jun 1874 in Rockcastle County, KY 2 Sarah J Hayes b: Abt. 1853 in Tennessee +William H Fish b: Abt. 1853 m: 24 Sep 1874 in Rockcastle County, KY 2 William Perry Hayes b: 02 Jan 1854 in Tennessee d: 15 Jan 1922 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky 2 Martha E Hayes b: Abt. 1857 in Tennessee +Joseph Sowder b: Abt. 1854 m: 26 Dec 1876 in Rockcastle County, KY I have found their marriage in Grainger County TN and they are listed in the 1850 census in Grainger county. They are in the 1860 census in Big Creek, Cass, Missouri (Post Office: Pleasant Hill) and then in Rockcastle in 1870 and 1880. I have found death cert. for Thomas and William that name their mother as Elizabeth Gordon. I am researching the descendants of Abner Gordon and I am trying to prove or disprove that Elizabeth is his daughter. Elizabeth is given in the Rev War pension application as one of his daughters and this one is the right age, has the right birth place and the marriage took place near where Abner was living (Hawkins county in the area that would become Hancock county) but I can not be sure if she is or not the daughter of Abner. We find a son of Abner Gordon, James Henry Gordon, living in Mount Vernon, Rockcastle County, by 1870. By 1890 Crawford Gordon was in Mount Vernon, Rockcastle. He was not the son of James but was a grandson of Abner. He was in Estill in 1870 and back in TN in 1880. I would like to hear from you if you can add anything or have thoughts about Elizabeth and this family. Thanks for any help that you can give. Jimmie Gordon

    1. [KYROCKCA] Obit - M. Loraine Kidwell Gentry
    2. Pat W. Ball
    3. 10-10-2008: From Richmond, Indiana "Pal-Item" RICHMOND, Ind. -- M. Loraine Gentry's heroic battle with Parkinson's disease began almost 20 years ago. However, it was her fight with cancer that carried her from this world on Oct. 8, 2008. She was 69. Loraine was born in 1939 in Mount Vernon, Ky., and spent the greatest part of her life in Richmond, Ind. She also briefly lived at Fort McCoy, Wis., where her husband Col. Al Gentry deployed U.S. troops to Southwest Asia during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Directly from the Richmond High School graduating class of 1957, she worked for Insurance Company of North America while concentrating her personal time on raising her family. She also briefly attended Indiana University East and was a tutor for disabled children. Loraine's immediate family includes her husband of 47 years, retired U.S. Army Colonel Al C. Gentry; sons, Albert C. Gentry II of Brownsburg, Ind., Alan Christopher Gentry of Fishers, Ind., Andrew C. Gentry of Paris, France; and daughter, Mary Lizabeth Gentry-Adams of Hagerstown, Ind. Loraine's grandchildren include Nathan Gentry, Zachary Gentry, Kelsey Gentry and Alexander Adams. Loraine is also survived by her mother, Eliza Kidwell, age 95, of Richmond; and three sisters, Minnie Bernice Weiss, age 79, of Dayton, Ohio, Glena Tewell of Connersville, Ind., and Wilma Lavonne Tegler Smith of Richmond; aunts; nieces; nephews; and her close friends, Phil and Janice Beam of Richmond. Her father, Roscoe Kidwell; and her brother, Kurtis Kidwell of Las Cruces, N.M., are deceased. Along with her family, Loraine's plethora of activities included gardening, crossword puzzles, board games, card games and extensive traveling with her husband. Visiting innumerable locations such as Europe, U.S. historical sites, the East and West coasts, the Dakotas and the Black Hills, Loraine and Al traveled simply because they wanted to explore the world together! Loraine's children grew up with her curiosity, enthusiasm and perseverance as she strived to provide them with everything she may not have had when a child herself. Not wasting any time, she taught them early to walk, tie their shoes, read and count, swim, ride bicycles and later, and more importantly, to cultivate their independence. Her life with her husband is a tribute to the enduring love and compassion that bonded them. Her devoted husband, Al Gentry, was by her side for almost 20 years of difficult and often terrifying days of illness and indescribable suffering. Yet, Loraine always greeted him with a vibrant "I love you" when he walked through the door or into a room. Together they saw humor in even the most traumatic situations, often brightening a conversation with their contagious laughter. Her life proves the power of joy over sadness. Visitation for Loraine (Kidwell) Gentry is welcome from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Doan & Mills with Phil Beam and Bishop Craig Davis officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Henry County, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Loraine Gentry Memorial Fund at Wayne Federal Teacher's Credit Union, 3010 W. Main St., Richmond, IN 47374. Condolences may be sent to the family via the guest book at www.doanmillsfuneralhome.com
