Anna Cathers is a sister of Rev War Vet Edward 'Ned' Cathers of Laurel Co KY. George W and Anna were in/returned to? Laurel Co KY per 1828 Laurel Co KY Tax List. They lived in Laurel Co many years and about 1837 they, and 'many' Laurel Co friends/family moved, wagon train, to and settled in the Livingston/Grundy Co MO area (see 1840 Livingston/1850 Grundy Co MO Census for many Laurel Co people). George W and others returned to Laurel Co KY mid 1800's and George W Henson, and a John Henson, was found in the 1847/48 Laurel Co KY Tax Lists and in the 1850 Laurel Co Census in the household of John Drew and 'Ibby'. Ibby is thought to be a McQueen/Mo! ore daughter. Rev John Drew is said by his descendants to be of American Indian heritage (Cherokee). George W Henson sold his 150 acres in Laurel/Jackson Co Ky and moved from Jackson Co KY by 1859 (sold his last 50 acres in Jackson Co KY to a John Evans) showing up in the 1860 Webster Co MO Census and later in the 1870 Maries Co MO Census and finally in the 1880 Logan Co AR Census where he lived out his life around Paris, Logan Co, AR. She was born Jan. 12, 1947, in Crab Orchard, Ky., to Charles and Esther Wells Barger, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 16, 1968, she married James C. Manges, who survives. Mrs. Manges was a homemaker. She was a member of Abiding by Faith Assembly Church, North Baltimore. She was a loving wife, mother and grandma. Survivors also include a son, Benjamin Manges; two daughters, Sarah (Edward) Lowery and Christine Manges; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Davis and Nicole Lowery; and a brother, Charles Barger of Arlington. Rick, I may have missed something, but the only Spencer Mullins I find on the 1840 Rockcastle Co., KY census was my 3rd g-grandfather, who was born in 1775, died 1 May 1853, and is shown on the 1840 census as 60 and under 70. (He would have been 65). His son Henry, b. 1822 is shown as a male 15 and under 20. On the female side his daughter Martha, born 1831, is shown as 5 and under 10, daughter Mary, born 1830 is shown 10 and under 15, and Spencer's wife Mary King, born 1785, is shown as 50 and under 60. (She would have been 55). I have extensive data on the Mullins and Owens families that migrated from Wilkes Co., NC in 1803 to what is now Rockcastle Co., KY and I don't know of any other Spencer Mullins born around 1820 in the area. Can you tell me what page in the 1840 census you found your Spencer? Rick, Understand this is not the right Spencer Mullins but might be a clue. Spencer Mullins b. 18 Jan 1775, Pittsylvania, VA, moved to KY ca. 1803/04, shown Knox Co. 1805 Tax List. Was in 1810 Rockcastle Census. (I think the same one is shown on 1797 Wilkes Co. NC tax list on on the 1800 Wilkes Co NC Census.) He died in Rockcastle Co. KY 1 May 1853. He first married Rachel ca 1800 NC, They had Louisa Ann, Wesley, Alfred and Jackson Mullins. He second married Mary King ca 1820, they had Henry, Champ, Angeline, Mary Ann "Pollie", Martha Ann. Sometimes, surname spellings aren't like they should be due to census taker mistake or even the person who reads the census takers writing, so you can look at the index and see all the surnames for that particular decade and sometimes discover the misspellings that are your ancestors names.
