JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON ELWOOD GABBARD FROM THE DAYTON (OH) DAILY NEWS 3/17/09 Elwood Gabbard, age 78, of London, OH and formerly of Lakengren in Eaton, OH, passed away March 14, 2009. Born February 9, 1931 in Stanton, KY, he was a son of the late Hiram & Fannie Gabbard. He retired in 1993 after 45 years with the St. Regis Paper Company in Dayton. Mr. Gabbard moved from Eaton to London in 2004 after the passing of his wife L. Dean (Lykins) Gabbard on April 13, 2002. He is also preceded in death by son Thomas Lee Gabbard in 1992; brother Ed Gabbard and sister Ruth Chipman. Survived by daughters Shirley Hall & husband Bill of London, OH and Linda McKenzie of West liberty, KY; grandchildren Randy Myers, Frankie Rector and Johnny Shorter; great grandchildren Layla Myers; Rachael Burd, Christine Shorter, Johnny Clay Shorter, Dwayne Carrocci, Morgan Kilgore, Kayla Burke and Bradley Taylor; great great grandchildren Taylor Lin Carothers, Lillie Saylor, Hagen Saylor, Kaylin Saylor and Jayden Shorter; brothers Paul, Kenneth and Ray Gabbard all of Stanton, KY an! d Clay Gabbard of MI; sisters Imogene of Stanton, KY, Laurie Anderson of MI and Bethel Bales of WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM March 19, 2009 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 8:00 PM March 18, 2009 at the funeral home.
