Hi, Myrna. Saw your query on the list mailing. I have some Clark Co. marriage records, etc., and have the following information regarding this James Patton who married a Elizabeth Dinwiddie. According to the marriage records, he did marry this Elizabeth Dinwiddie but not in VA - in Clark Co., KY. They have the wrong marriage date, though. His will was probated in October of 1823, as follows: shows wife as Elizabeth (James evidently was married only once), sons Mathew and John, and daughter Polly Patton Halley (husband Henry Halley (or Holley), married May 8, 1806, Clark Co., KY), Other heirs:l. Polly Patton, daughter of Deceased son Mathew, 2. Children of his son John: James, Elizabeth, Sarah Ann, Richard, John William, Polly, Nancy, and Mathew T. 3. Children of his daughter Polly Patton Halley: James P, Richard S, Elizabeth, Sibel, Polly, Matthew, John & George. Here are other Patton marriages for Clark Co, KY: John Patton m. Louvin Ann Foxworthy on Feb l4, l828 John Patton married Sibbea Halley on December 20, l805 (or Sibel). Probate record for him shows probate date as June 20, 1823, wife Sibel, children: James H., Elizabeth, Sarah Ann, Richard H., John W., Nackey D., Mathew Thomson. Robert Patton married Nancy Black on Feb 20, 1806 William Patton married Anne Harrison on Dec 22, 1808 Evelin Patton m. Richard Wills on October l9, l796 Jane Patton married Original Williams on March 25, l808 Julia Patton married William Robertson on November 25, l850 L. H. Patton married George T. Fishback on June l4, l836 (Lumia, I think) Polley Patton married Henry Halley (Holley?) on May 8, l806 Polly Patton married Phineas Skinner Sary Anne Patton married James Dunn on October 27, l827 I thought I would list this together so we can trace some of them to show a possible connection to Charles Patton and Ann McCoy and their known children of Hughes Patton (who married l. Delila Shepherd 2. Polly Ann Ross), Thomas Patton (who married Polly Abney), Lois Patton (who married William Dewitt), and Jane Patton (who married Original Williams shown above). I have a strong feeling that at least some of these other Pattons tie into our Pattons in Clark Co., KY. Let me know what you think. Joan
