Hi everyone, The entire GenConnect system will be upgraded starting at midnight on Saturday September 5, 1998. This will require that we shut the system down. The reason is twofold ..... it's not just a patch .... it's a re-write of the program that runs the system. Also, the Global Search engine has been revamped and mega-enhanced, which will require a total rebuild. No new postings can be allowed during this rebuilding period. Downtime is estimated to be 8 hours max (yep .... it's a huge system now!). Anyone attempting to use the system during this downtime will be given notice that it's being upgraded .... no-one will be left in the dark. Just know that from midnight on Saturday until about 8 hrs later, no one will be able to enter a query, bio or obituary. Hi all! My Powell county surnames are Toland/Tolin and Sewell. Both of these families were in Clark County area before it became Powell. My ggg grandfather, Jordan Tolin, was a mail carrier at Stanton in the late 1800's. Some Tolin's and Sewell's are buried in a small cemetery that was moved when the parkway was built. My great Aunt Alice Roe pointed it out to me a long time ago on the way to Natural Bridge, but even she couldn't find it the last time she went that way in 1990. He married Nonie Hall in 1903, in Powell County, and at some later time, married Pollie Powell, who was born in Furnace, Kentucky. They divorced in the mid-30's and I am told by family members that Orlando married again, and that there were children, but no one remembers any names. Pollie also married again, once to a man named Snowden and once to a man named Rastus Keeling. I have not been able to find out anything about them either. Pollie and Orlando were my husband's grandparents. Their children were Carl, Philip, Vina Mae and Margaret Ann (my husband's mother).
