    1. [KYPOWELL-L] Correction
    2. Well, I am dealing with too many Charles Pattons here. Evidently the Charles Patton b. l878 couldn't have been Lois Patton's husband if he was her brother, so let's assume that he wasn't and my theory fits. Joan

    1. [KYPOWELL-L] Additional comment
    2. Please disregard the date of death shown for a Charles Patton - if this is the right one, they would have been divorced and she wouldn't have been a widow when she married William Dewitt in l832. Joan

    1. [KYPOWELL-L] Further info re: Charles Patton b. 1830
    2. Hi again. I just found more confirmation of my theory from e-mail I just sent you. On the l860 Powell Co., KY census, there is the following entry: Charles Patton 30 yrs old M KY Lois 58 yrs old F William 5 M KY This Charles Patton must be your Charles Patton who married Letty Jane Anderson in l868. Notice that the Lois shown here is our Lois b. l802, the daughter of Charles Patton and Ann McCoy. She must have been living with her son - evidently Charles Patton b. l798 was already deceased. I did find a record of a death for a Charles Patton in l842. Note also that the William shown is the same age as your William Harrison Patton b. l855 in Powell Co., the son of this Lois Patton and what I believe to be the Charles Patton b. l798 in Clark Co., KY. Lois did marry a William Dewitt in l832, so she was evidently a widow again. Joan

She shows up in the l860 Powell Co., KY census as follows: Polly A. Clem (700 acres) 42 yrs old, female KY Patton, James Hughes (l00 acres) l8 yrs old, male (son of Hughes Patton) Patton, Rob. 3. Hello, I have a question please. On the 1920 Powell Census it has Soldier Hardy as 36 & Mary as 39. I have the marriage bond for Soldier Hardy & Mary Charles dated Sep. 28, 1880 and they were both 20 years old putting there birth year as 1860. If this is correct they should both be 60 years old. Would this be Soldier Jr, and he married a Mary also? HELP! Mollie Charles Pawlik Texas

    2. WALTER PAWLIK
    3. Okay everybody please make nice ones!!!!!!!!! I have the CHARLES in Estill to Powell-I thought to Lee because my grandfather lived there and died there. My father was schooled in Wolfe and returned there in the late 70's earl 80's. My question is what happened to all of the ancestors that just seem to have disappeared. Some of the first names show up in Pike Co. after it was formed. Does anybody know if this was a destnation for our counties. I have purchased the Estill-Powell-Lee censuses for all years(except 1830-1840 Estill).Know one seems to have a copy for sell that I have contacted. TIA, Mollie Charles Pawlik Texas

    3. Hi, I am reposting this as I have some more info. Julia Charles and Wm T. Rogers married in 1899 at her brother Joseph(Joe) house in Powell Co. She died in Letcher Co. in 1918. Supposedly on her death bed she told her son Joe(raised by Rogers as his son) that his father was Joel Cox and that Joe went to visit him. Lillie-Lemon & Joe was all born before 1899 when she married Rogers. Do any of the COX's - ROGERS or CHARLES' RESEARCHERS HAVE ANY PROOF OR VERICATION ON THIS STORY.
