Hi Y'all: I have recently completed the transcription of another article. This one is entitled "The Scholl Settlement" and includes many names. It's very interesting and I'm sure you'll find an ancestor or two if they were in the area of Schollsville during it's beginnings. I have e-mailed the article to the Clark County co-ordinator for her to add to the Clark County site. I have also re-submitted the other two articles that I previously transcribed (The Tracy Settlement and The Lewis Settlement). They apparently got lost in the shuffle from the previous co-ordinator to the new one. Hopefully, you'll be able to find the articles there soon. I have several other articles that I'll be transcribing. I'll let y'all know my progress as they are completed. Happy Hunting! Darla

The Red River Historical Society will meet on April 20, 2000 at Natural Bridge. Come early and enjoy the beautiful spring time scenes in the Red River Gorge. If you want to eat plan on getting to the Dinning Room in time to eat and come to the program which will start at 7 p.m. -- It will probably be in the Activity Center which is a short walk from the Lodge. Be sure to be on time for the meeting. Sandy Harmon will be portraying Lily May Ledford, the Coon Creek Girl. Lily May was raised in the Red River Gorge before becoming a famous musician. Sandy's program is presented by the Kentucky Humanities Council and Natural Bridge State Park is helping to pay for the event. We will be looking forward to seeing you!!!!! Diane Rogers President

-----Original Message----- From: nthorpe <[email protected]> To: Diane Rogers <[email protected]> Date: Monday, April 10, 2000 4:52 PM Subject: Announcement Diane Bob Calder called me and said this lady from the Heritage Council in Frankfort called him about setting up a meeting with our members and anyone else who is interesting in seeing the old buildings downtown Irvine restored. He seems to think that this meeting could assist our Society in getting a grant for the purchase of some property. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 19, beginning at 7:00 P.M. at the little Court Room, Estill County Court House. Could you announce this to your Internet Gang. This could benefit anyone connected to Estill County. While talking to Bob, I mention about our Internet meeting in July and that you would like to have a program for the Friday night dinner, and possibly a speaker and you suggested a program about the Fitchburg Furnace. Bob said he would contact Lee Padget and see if it could be arranged for him to provide a program for Friday night, if not then perhaps Saturday morning at the Library. I will keep you inform. Hi again, Looking at my message several days ago I noticed that Wm. STRANGE was born 1883 and 2nd wife Naomi SAMS was born 1854. Is this a mistake or did he marry with that age difference? I find a Neoma J. SAMS on the 1900 Powell census age 46 living w/parents, also listed is Claude SAMS 18 G/Son to I. T. SAMS or Neomi. Did she keep her maiden name or were they divorced. Did they have children. Get 1 answer and it brings more questions.
