Born February 9, 1931 in Stanton, KY, he was a son of the late Hiram & Fannie Gabbard. He retired in 1993 after 45 years with the St. Regis Paper Company in Dayton. Mr. Gabbard moved from Eaton to London in 2004 after the passing of his wife L. Dean (Lykins) Gabbard on April 13, 2002. He is also preceded in death by son Thomas Lee Gabbard in 1992; brother Ed Gabbard and sister Ruth Chipman. Joe Charles Combs Sunday, 08 March 2009 12:45 Joe Charles Combs, 69, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009, in Spring Meadows Care Center, Woodstock. He was born in Stanton, Ky., on June 5, 1939, a son of the late Joe Preston and Jewell Finch Combs. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Jolliff; granddaughter, Alexandra Elizabeth; and brother, James Scoby Combs. Survivors include sons, Joe Charles Combs II of Bellefontaine, Jeff Combs of Florida and Jason Combs of Texas; three granddaughters; brothers, Porter J.B. (Gloria) Combs and Audney A. (Frances) Combs, both of North Lewisburg, and Donald Ray (Jody) Combs of Milford Center; a brother-in-law, Bill Jolliff of Milford Center; and several nieces and nephews. A former truck driver and park ranger, he especially loved sitting and drinking coffee with his buddies. Pastor Robert Instine conducts a funeral at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg, where calling is one hour prior. Burial is in Milford Center Cemetery.
