    1. [KYPOWELL] Mystery Solved
    2. Carter Combs
    3. Back in 2007 there was an obit for a Jettie Evelyn Hatton Combs with her spouse listed as Robert Combs. At that time I was unable to determine which Robert Combs, Jettie was married to. Now the mystery has been solved as there was an obit for Robert in 2009 that I failed to access. Below are both obits. Odd that Robert was listed in Jettie's obit but Jettie was not in Robert's obit. Ledford was the s/o Hardin Combs and Mary Hollon. Hardin was the s/o Woodson Combs and Rachel Bowman. Carter Jettie Evelyn Combs, a resident of Porter and former resident of Humble, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the age of 83 years. Evelyn was born March 3, 1924 in Powell County, Kentucky to the late Lemon and Maggie (Hall) Hatton. Evelyn is survived by a loving family; her beloved husband, Robert; two daughters, Wanda Faye Shelton and her husband John, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Carolyn Payne Bess, of Humble; two brothers, George Hatton and his wife Jan, of Bullhead City, Arizona, and Butch Hatton and his wife Frances, of Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters, Dorothy Helton and Nellie Faye Anderson, both of Lexington, Kentucky; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two godchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, September 21, 2007, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway in Pearland. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 22, 2007, in the chapel of Clayton Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Anderson officiating. For those desiring memorials may be made in Evelyn's honor to a charity of one's choice. Robert Combs, age 82 of Porter, Texas, passed away on May 21, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ledford & Charity (Murrell) Combs, and sister, Elizabeth Combs Brake. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Bess & Roger Capers and Wanda Shelton; brothers, Fred Mullins and Mort Mullins Jr.; sisters, Reba Mullins Sparks; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of many other family & friends. Robert was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky on October 30, 1926. He had a lifelong career as a Peace Officer dating back to1960 when he served under Judge Albert Lee as Constable Pct. #4 until 1965. He then became one of Humble's first fulltime police officers. From 1974 to 1988, Robert served with the Harris County Sheriff's Department. In his spare time, Robert could be found tinkering with projects around the house, or visiting and enjoying coffee with family, friends, and neighbors. His grandchildren affectionately called him "Grandpa". Robert always loved working in law enforcement and made many friends over the years. He will be fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him. A visitation for Robert was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Clayton Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble, Texas. Pastor Keith Anderson of New Harvest Christian Fellowship in Pearland will be officiating.
