    3. While researching the parents of my 3rd great grandmother, I have come upon a huge mystery which I need to figure out.   My 3rd gtreat grandmother was Lucinda Clay who married Blackburn Sturgell. Lucinda's parents were James Clay, s/o Jordan Clay and Mary Cartier and Jane Akers, d/o John Akers and Rebecca Ratliff. I have not been able to find a marriage date for James and Jane but I do have the names of their children; Lucinda as mentiioned above, Rebecca Clay who married John Johnson, Victoria Clay marrried Sylvester Rogers, Susannah Clay who married Eli Rhey (Ray, Lydia Clay who married William Irick and Matilda Clay who married John W. Sword.   Now, apparently, my James Clay passed away between the 1840 and 1850 and in the 1850, widow Jane Clay with daughter, Victoria is living in the home of her daugher, Lucinda and son in law, Blackburn Sturgell.   Here is where it gets tricky...apparently there was a Melinda Jane Akers who married another James Clay, also in Floyd County. I have seen the marriage date as July 20, 1826. This couple eventually moved into what is now Wayne County, WV where they lived out the rest of their lives. These two couples are so mixed up in people's research and it is all twisted and confused. Does anyone know who this other James Clay and Melinda Jane Akers is? Who are the parents? Does anyone have a marriage date for my James Clay and Jane Akers?   Anita McClung Fayette County, WV
