    1. [KYPIKE] John H. Bevins married Mary Jane Stacy

    3. I'm searching for help verifying information on my ancestor, John H. Bevins. Most of the information I have is taken from online postings and I need to find source material to confirm it. I show John as born about 1786 in Virginia, possibly Russell or Scott Co., and his wife, Mary Jane Stacy, b. abt 1790 in Floyd Co., KY. They were married about 1809, but I don't know the location. Online postings show John as the son of Joseph Bevins and Ann Noblett, but I can't find any evidence at all to confirm this connection nor the presumed connection between Joseph Bevins and Wilder Bevins, the Revolutionary War Patriot, from Pennsylvania. John Bevins and Mary Jane Stacy lived in Pike Co. from its founding and raised their 11 children there. Other descendants tell me they lived in the John's Creek area, but I can't confirm that. The children I have listed for them are James, Annie, Mary Jane, Elizabeth, Hiram Kilgore, George, Martha, Rebecca, Jemima, Louisa, and Jefferson. Their daughter, Elizabeth Bevins, married Absalom Hurt in 1849 in Pike Co. and she and Absalom are my 2nd great grandparents. I would appreciate any help in verifying the names, dates, and relationships of the Bevins and Stacy family. Thanks. Jean in WV

    3. Howdy, You might want to expand your search to include Tazewell, County, VA. I grew up near Richlands, went to school there. There are several Bevins ( Blevins) in that area, also the Hurt surname is tied to my family. The Stacy surname abounds in the coal fields of southwest Virgina. Good hunting! David M.
