    3. Thank you so much. I looked at the lists and it looks like, just maybe, I could use the death records of each county to systematically search. Most of the counties did not keep birth records during the time Nevora Porter was born; but her father died between her birth and 1880, when she & her mother appeared in the census with the mother listed as a widow (by this time they were living in Charleston WV). Neither mother nor father died in WV; and Nevora always claimed to have been born in KY (never mentioning exactly where). There also was a claim that the Porters were related to the McCoys, hence the reason I suspect Pike County KY. Since this was before 1911, the older records are on microfilm; but, I do have access to microfilm viewers with copiers attached at our main library here in Miami. Again, thank you so much. Gives me something to go on when I was at my rope's end.
