"Coy" REED was my cousin, his mother Margaret Baker was a sister to my grandmother Flora Jane Baker. His father Meredeth Reed was a brother to my grandfather John Willis Reed. Like many others "Coy" had to leave his home and the mountains for jobs but he always loved the place and the mountains he called home. Louise Vanover Vore JOHN REED John "Coy" Reed. 75, of 236 S. Union St-, Troy, died Monday, Aug.31, at his residence. .He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Slone, on April 23, 1984; a son, Gary Reed; his parents, Meredith and Margaret (Baker) Reed; two brothers, Paul Reed and Ernest Reed; and three sisters, Norma Elkins, Shirley Mullins and Lillie Charles. Mr.Reed was born on Dec.25, 1922 in Letcher County, Ky. He was a retired coal miner, having worked 17 years as a pipe fitter at Tube Products in Troy and 10 years in the maintenance department at Hobart Brothers in Troy. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Fisher-Cheney Funeral · Horne, Troy, with the Rev. Carolyn · Welch officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call from 1-2:30 p.rn. Thursday at the funeral home.
