Glenn Belcher: Below are BELCHER entries from an original Pike County Court Index ledger of cases, 1842-1850. This ledger is among numerous original Pike Co. records and photos left to me by the late Hassell Tackett of Pikeville - all of which I will be donating to the Allara Library at Pikeville College. My wife, Shirley, and I have transcribed the entire ledger noted above, with data now in a dB. It would be too time-consuming to do individual "lookups" and presentation of data from this dB, as noted below, as I would have to export each surname series into a WP program and them format in a legible form. But, below is a sample of the brief material in this ledger. I have yet to locate the repository for the actual court records noted in this ledger. Anna Moore in 1832. But, Belcher isn't a family I have studied - and there are other John Belchers. Above JOHN CLAY is likely the man of that name, b c1801, who marr.1824 to Anna ELSWICK, d/o Bradley Sr. [We have been working on the early families of Pike & Floyd Co.for over 30 years now, concentrating mostly on those families of the Shelby Valley in Pike Co. and the Beaver section of Floyd Co. I have worked very closely with the late Hassell Tackett & Juble Tackett of Pikeville since the late 1950's.
