Census, and other pre-1850 records I've seen, as either CARTER [See Henry Carter, b c1795) or McCARTY (see Absolom McCarty just six dwellings distant from Moses Ramey Sr. in the 1840 census). I have never seen CARTY in Pike Co. records, other than a listing in the 1830 census - doesn't mean it didn't exist. I would stick my neck out and suggest that this 1830 CARTY was the same as Absolom McCARTY. Although not a RAMEY/REMY descendant, I do appreciate seeing this will as a full transcription.
