Wilma, COLLINS has a lot of mystery in the line. My ggrandfather told my grandfather his parents came from Ireland durning the famious potatoe famine........I have this line back to Meredith b. 1760 Va. and would love to find his parents. Needless to say ggrandpa Richard wasn't telling the truth. Meredith Collins was a REVWAR soldier. b. 1760 Va. d. 1841 Pike Co. Ky He brought his family from Russell Co. Va. and settled on land at Craney- Shelby Creek. His first wife is unk and with her he had a daughter ,unnamed, and a son Bradley Collins b. 1786 NC.........ca: 1795 he married Polly HOLLOWAY and with her he had, John W. Collins, Edward Collins, Archibald Collins, Janes Collins, Reuben Collins, a daughter ( we believe is Amy) and William. Meredith lost Polly 1812 and him with all those children he "took up with" Milly JOHNSON, his common law wife and she gave him a son Merdy Johnson ,according to court records however I believe he may have been the Levi Collins found later living in the household with same birthdate. I am also searching for John W. Collins ,my gg grandfather who married second , Mary ROARK. John b. 1797 probably Russell Co. Va. d. after 1870 . He appears on McDowell Co. WV census in 1860&70 but disappears off 1880. Any help appreciated. Brenda
