    3. I didn't find a listing for John Porter in 1822-1865 or 1866-1900, but found two for Elijah. You might also try looking at Potter's and Prater's in the census. Sometimes like-sounding names may have been mixed up a bit by census enumerators. File No. 112 - License issued February 1, 1825 "by Spencer Adkins CPCC for marriage of Elijah Porter and Mary Scoot. Clerk stated that the father of the said Mary personally applied for the license and that Elijah Porter was over 21. Bond for marriage of Elijah Porter and Mary Porter signed by Elijah Porter and William Scoot (by marks). Married Feb. 6, 1825 "by Simeon Justice. File No. 651 - License issued February 3, 1840 by Martin Mims Dep. for John D. Mims, clk., for marriage of Elijah Porter and Nancy Ramsey. Clerk certified that the "oreal Concent of Nancy ramsey was given before me". Bond signed by Elijah "porter" and John Scott. Married February 3, 1840 by Wm Campbell JPPC. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, August 08, 2007 4:04 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [SPAM]Re: [KYPIKE] [SPAM]Re: Marriage License in Pike Co. KY Tara, Thank you so much for offering...... I do not have an exact date, though. I am looking for a marriage of a JOHN PORTER who was the son of ELIJAH PORTER and MARY SCOTT.. He would have been 21 years of age around 1858. I am thinking he may have gotten married about 1858-1865. Things could have been interrupted by the Civil War, since he would have been of age for that. I know that he was still living in Pike County in 1850 as he shows there with his father, step mother, Nancy, and siblings. I cannot find him in the 1860 Census there.....although the father and stepmother with the two youngest children are still there. I am trying to research him for a possible father to my maternal brick wall grandmother, Geneva PORTER b. 1872/1873. Her father was supposed to have been named John PORTER. Again....thank you so much, Dee [email protected] > > From: "Steve Maggard" <[email protected]> > Date: 2007/08/08 Wed PM 03:07:56 EDT > To: <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [KYPIKE] [SPAM]Re: Marriage License in Pike Co.
