    3. Dee, The old Pike Co KY marriage bonds go back to 1822. I have the marriage bond abstract book done by Clyde Runyon and I'd be happy to send you a listing from it. KY Why don't you just go ahead and write to them......they will let you know how much it is, then you can send them the money. I have done that a lot of times in other places; and, it works pretty well, when you cannot get in touch to find out ahead of time. I am interested in this discussion, too, as I am thinking about trying to get a marriage record too. Does anyone know how far back they might go? I would be looking for something in the neighborhood of the 1860s. Dee > > From: "B. 3. Would you be so kind as to see if the book you have has a marriage bond listing for Sarah Smith and James P. Layne (Lain, Laine) I cannot find a listing for them in any publication. I have a picture of their tombstones. His second wife was Susannah Weddington. Sarah, not Susannah, is buried next to him. Thanks.

    3. There wasn't a marriage listed in the 1822-1865 book for James to Sarah Smith, but the 1866-1900 book has the marriage to Susannah Weddington: James P. Layne, age 48, He & Pts - Floyd; to Susanna Weddington, age 45, She & Pts - Pike. Married on November 3, 1881 at Wm. H. Weddington.
