His brother Raymond lived in Phelps. b. 5-3-1902 d. >> 7-31-1954. Both men were coal miners. Reg, I wish I could help you, but all I can do is ask YOU a question! I notice William lived in Freeburn; my grandfather was born in Freeburn on December 17, 1906 and his father, Cornelius Ratcliff, was a coal miner, too. My question is, what coal mines might Cornelius have worked in during that time frame in the Freeburn area? He had another son born in 1911 in Chattaroy, W.Va.; I don't know whther he had moved by that time, or not, though I suspect he might have, or else why would he have had the second son born out of state? Did they live in Freeburn and work in West Virginia? Also, could you tell me how old a boy had to be to work in the mines? Thanks a lot! Wish I could have answered questions instead of asking them! -- God Bless You, Michael A. Radcliff 2009 Olive Court Milton, W.Va. 25541 mradclif@marshall.edu

    3. What is your question? I have given up on the Mullins Family, because there are just too many of them and they keep intermarrying and naming their children the same. This indicates a relationship, but makes them impossible to trace with any degree of surety. I have a book done by Stella Mullins, but she admits that there are a great number of errors. The names are mostly correct, but a lot of dates are in error. I am a descendant of Smith's brother Booker Mullins and I am not satisfied that Booker is the son of Wm. (BH). I'm attaching an "unproven" structure of the Mullins family and I can put you in contact with Audrey Mullins Treu in Rockford, IL , who knows more about the Mullins than anyone I know. Last I heard, She didn't have a computer. Ken Burke ________________ Mullins Family Structure (UNPROVEN) William Mullins (born circa 1670 - died 1734 Hanover Co.,VA) m. Katherine ? Children: 1. Mullins Fact & Questions Born 1780/1784 - Listed as 66 years old in 1850 census of Pike County Death record, Pike Co.,Ky lists as 79 yrs in 1859. Wife - 1. Judith Stanley m. William Mullins 23 Mar 1803, Franklin Co., VA Marriage license of Smith Mullins to Peggy Newsom is signed by William and Judith Mullins. 2. Delilah Branham, m. Pike Co., Ky. 2 Aug 1850 Children: 1. Booker Mullins b. 1804 Va. - 1846 Marriage Bond for Owen Mullins and Jane Potter, Pike Co.,Ky. File #894 signed by Booker Mullins (by Mark) “Bh son” 2. Smith Mullins b. 1809 Va. - No one disputes this fact. 3. Owen Mullins b.1826/1828, Wm (B.H) signed letter as parent giving him permission to marry in 1846. This son sometimes listed as the son of Wm. H. & Betsy Roberts. Wm. H. is not the same as Wm. (B.H.). Wm. H. (Harrison) was know as “Lame Handed” and “Cuddy Bill” because of his lame hand and is the one who married Betsy Roberts. Wonder if there is confusion about other children listed for Wm. H. & Betsy??? Death: Pike Co., Ky. death record for Wm. 25 May 1859, age 79 yrs, 2 mo. says this Wm. married twice (Judith & Delilah) and the son of Wm. and Sarah Mullins of Patrick Co., Va. (1860 - Delilah widowed). Death record for Judith Stanley Mullins recorded Aug 1850 Pike Co. lists her as age 63 while the death record for Judith Stanley Mullins recorded in Perry Co., Ky. Aug. 1850, lists her as age 59.???? Parents: ??William Mullins Jr. b. 1751 “Of Pittsylvania Co.,” Va. and Jane Stanley b. 1750, Orange Co., Va. daughter of William and Judith Stanley who also had a daughter Susannah b. 1775. Not all sources agree that (B.H.) was brother to Susannah as listed in unproven Mullins family structure. ?? Conflict with mothers name in death certificate listed above??? .
