    1. Pike County ancesters
    2. Hello I have been away from this list for a long time and am very happy to be able to get back into the "hunt" for my elusive family. I am hoping to connect to any descendants of Reuben F Dotson and Cydny ( Sidney) Prater ..........also Peter Dotson and Emily Masters. My father was Sam Dotson born Pike County Jan. 26 1926 son of George Arthur and Roxalena ( Roxie ) Dotson. All of dads siblings but one have passed away. The last girl was Katherine Dotson Sipple Ramsey who died March 26 2005. Aunt Kat lived in Matewan at the time of her death. Reuben and Peter Dotson were both sons of George Wheeler Dotson and his first wife Catherine Bumgardner. They moved into Pike County around 1850. If you have a connection to any of these folks I would love to hear from you. I am especially interested in finding cousins Steven and Lillian Clarinda Dotson..they are children of Willie and Nina Dotson. Uncle Willie died in Hatsboro Pa in Nov of 1990 and I would love to hear from his children They can hide but they can't run.... Sandi

    1. Marriage Lookup Short and Wariner
    2. Charlotte E Flock
    3. I'm looking for a marriage record of William Boyd Short, married to Caroline Wariner or Warren. Their only child, Charles McPherson Short. On Charles death certificate it mentions his parents names.. The closest that I can figure out that William probably got married in the late 60's but no later then 1872, because that's when Charles McPherson Short was born. I have not been able to place William Boyd Short on the 1870 census. So I want to think that he was married after 1870 but no later then 1872. Remember Charles was born in 1872. If anything the marriage could taken place alot eariler then 1870 but not later then 1872. If you happen to have a marriage record book on hand could you please check the index. for William Boyd Short and Caroline Wariner or Warren. Charlotte

    2. Terry Jackson
    3. Am trying to determine if Robert McKinley Gillespie was actually married twice. The second wife was Lizzie (Elizabeth?) Kinney. I believe she was descended from Polly Kinney & Harrison Newsome. He shows up on census records as follows: 1900 Forks Precint as Robert (b. Feb. 1898), son of John & Sarah Galaspie 1910 The Forks Pct. 11 as Robert W. Mc, b. 1899, son of John & Sarah Glespie 1920 Lookout Pct. as McKinly Glespie, b. 1898, wife Lizzie 1930 Pct. 52, as McKinley Gilispie, wife Lizzie His WWI Registration card dated 9-12-1898 lists nearest relative as Rosie Gilispie. The 1920 (1-28-1920) census lists 2 children: Beatrice, age 1-11/12 and Juanita, age 2/12. Is there a marriage record for Robert McKinley Gillespie (current spelling) & Rose Unknown? Thanks for any assistance. Terry Jackson [email protected]

    3. The date of death is Jan 6, 1940. Crobsy was 69. You should order the death certificate from the State of Kentucky for additional details that it contains. 3. For any of you who have family history ties to Floyd Co, KY, you may be interested in this documentary on PBS. It follows the lives of two teenage Floyd Co boys for three years. I watched part one last night Jan 9, 2006. Part two tonight and part three tomorrow night, six hours in all. Each segment is two hours. You can watch the entire video on your PC at the PBS Web Site. You can also order the film in DVD or VHS. It was very interesting to see the Floyd Co countryside and people in their daily lives. I loved the shots of the trains, tunnels, and trestles. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/countryboys/ chris hayes ~ washington state
