Paul, There is several May Cemeteries in that area, some that I don't know the exact location. Up Octavia Hollow, William Jefferson May Cem. behind home of Ricky Edmondson, two more high on the Mountain and across from Sadie King home place, up May Fork, Wash May Cem., in a pine grove behind Whitt family homes on left side, another up on the road going across the Mtn. toward Blackberry, also on left side of road. Gloria, I have had great success in obtaining obituaries from the Public Libraries in the locality of death/home. I looked on Library site for Pikeville KY and found the following (no email tho); Pikeville Free Public Library 343 Main STreet Pikeville, Ky 41501-1135 Phone 606=432-1285 When you are requesting information from an archived micro-filmed newspaper you must furnish as many facts as possible. Normally they will only do one or two. Must have: Name Must have: Date of death (usually within a couple of days) Good to have: Parents, siblings, spouse, children Always ask their policy for the look-ups, costs etc., Most only charge for the cost of the copy and postage (I usually try to send more as a donation for the library-$5.00). I have found the library attendants/people to be extremely helpful and nice. Good hunting Barb in OH
Help wanted...PLEASE. I am new to your list but hoping someone out there can help me. I am looking for an obit or newspaper article from 1948 on Floyd YOUNG. He was murdered in Williamson, WVA, (Mingo County) on Aug 4 or 5, 1948 from a knife wound to the neck. He was taken to memorial hospital where he died within 30 minutes. The incident took place in Huddy, Ky but death cert is in WVA vital statistics where he lived. Any information or articles would be so greatly appreciated. Floyd YOUNG has been one of my hardest stumbling blocks! Anyway, thanks in advance for any assistance.--gloria __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! try different spellings of dellsena - I have a Dulsenia in my family and it has been spelled many different ways.
Jacob was listed as Della's father in the 1920 census. There were a few Denny's in Pike Co KY who I know married into the Kinney/Newsome/Johnson families. I also have in my database a Thomas Pinson who married Mary Denny of Grayson Co VA before 1800. Their children and grandchildren married Pike Co KY people. Maybe Jacob is a descendant of those Denny's somehow. ________________________________________________________________________ KY Vitals Deaths: Jacob Denny, died 04-22-1927 in Pike Co KY, age 69 at death, Vol. 48, Cert. 23985 1920 Jackson Co OH Census (Franklin, Dist. 71, Pg. 3-A) Jacob Denny 65 Head OH OH OH (b. abt 1855) Elizabeth Denny 48 Wife OH OH OH Della Williams 26 Dau. I know that Sam outlived her; he remarried a lady named Virgie and lived in WV for a while probably during the 40's and/or 50's. He ended up back in Ohio where he died in 1978. Someone on this board found what could be her dad, Jacob Denny, also died in Pike County one year after her. I'm suspecting Jacob may have moved to Pike County, and Della and Sam split up and she moved back in with her dad. The only other possibility is that Sam and Della lived with Jacob Denny at the time of her death, and then he moved on after she died. I do know that Sam & Della with kids were living with Jacob in Ohio in 1920; maybe he was a freeloader! bobert <[email protected]> wrote: Steve & Tara Maggard wroteRe: WILLIAMS surname: " Dellsena & Sam were each born and married and had several kids, all in Ohio.
