Luke Combs Luke Combs passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2011, at the age of 82. He was born on September 13, 1929, in Kistler, West Virginia. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia and received his doctorate from the University of Virginia Medical School. He was in family practice for seven years in Mann, West Virginia. In 1964, he returned to the University of Virginia to specialize in ophthalmology. It was here in Charlottesville that he was in practice for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Combs; two daughters, Deborah Combs of Montgomery, Alabama and Stephanie Wilson and her husband, Mark, of Keswick; and three grandchildren Emily, Riley and Morgan Wilson. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011, at Monticello Memory Gardens with the Reverend Ken Morton officiating. Following the graveside service the family will receive friends at the home of Stephanie and Mark Wilson in Keswick, Virginia The family will receive friends 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Teague Funeral Home.
