Altie Wells Combs Birth: Sep. 24, 1912 Redfox Knott County Kentucky, USA Death: Sep. 11, 1997 Altie Combs, 84, died Wednesday afternoon,September 11, 1997 at the home of her daughter, Martha, in Pharisburg where she had been living. She was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Chapel House of Prayer in Byhalia. She was born Sept. 24, 1912, in Red Fox, Ky., to the late Sampson and Ada Wells. She married James Combs in 1925 and he died in 1971. She was also predeceased by a son, Alfred Combs; a daughter, Lilly Mae-Combs; a grand-son, John Combs; and a great-grandson, Jeri Slone. She is survived by four daughters, Martha Smith, Edna Mae Slone and Kathleen Overfield of Marysville and Ruby Slone of Riverview, Fla.; three sons, Irvin Combs of Marysville, Sterling Combs of Warrensburg and Burt Combs of Bradenton, Fla.; 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charlie Combs of Kentucky and Archie Combs of Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. Carroll Mathys will officiate and burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service. Pallbearers will be Richard Smith, Sterling Combs, James Combs, Russell Slone, Danny Slone, Jimmy Slone, Jerry Overfield and Charles Combs. Have not been able to identify Elhannon Combs, He was born abt 1882 and may never have been in a census record as a child as the 1890 census was lost. Carter
