He was born in Perry County, the son of the late Earnest Hoskins and the late Ethel Stacy Hoskins. He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Hoskins of Bulan; sons Harold Hoskins and Kenneth W. Hoskins, both of Hazard; daughters Donna K. Bush and Mary Katherine McIntosh, both of Hazard, Ky; brothers Woodson Hoskins and Farrell Dean Hoskins, both of Hazard; sister Edna Faye Hurt of Clay City; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 17 at 1 p.m. at the Hardburly Baptist Church with Johnny Ambrose, Danny Ritchie, Jack Carter and Karen Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery at Hazard. Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard was in charge of arrangements. ****************************************** Eli Neace Mr. Eli Neace, 67, died Thursday May 12 at his residence. He was born at Combs, the son of the late Sam Neace and the late Fannie Herald Neace. Eli was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Neace. Eli was a good dad and papaw, and by occupation was a coal miner. Heenjoyed going to church, auctions, and was a member of the Grapevine Old Regular Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Martha Gail Neace of Grapevine; daughters Rhonda Michelle Pence and husband Mark of Grapevine, Stella Ruth Pollard and husband Chris of Grapevine, and Lisa Stamper of Grapevine; special girls Donna and Debbie; brother Douglas Neace and wife Teresa of Grapevine; sisters Vida Noble of Grapevine and Elizabeth Allen and husband Joe of Bonnyman; grandchildren Jonathan, Andrew, Maddux Elijah and Summer Pence, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday May 14 at the Engle-Walker Perry County Chapel on Morton Blvd. with Norvell Gambill and Jody Allen officiating. The burial followed in the Eli Neace Memorial Cemetery at Grapevine. ******************************************* Chester Holbrook Chester Holbrook, 64, died on Wednesday May 11 at Cumberland, Ky. Chester was born in Perry County, the son of the late George Holbrook and the late Mallie Couch Holbrook. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Holbrook of Slemp; son Chester O'Neal Holbrook and wife Opal of Florida; daughters Jessica Foutch of Cumberland and Mallie Roark of Ohio; brother Estill Holbrook of Cornettsville; sister Estella Burgett of Hazard; grandchildren Nicholas Foutch, Colton Holbrook and Sajen O'Neal Holbrook, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Monday May 16 at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ at Puncheon Camp with Eugene Baker and Shafter Shepherd officiating. Burial followed in the Couch-Holbrook Cemetery located at Leatherwood. ******************************************* Frances Campbell Frances Lillian Campbell, 75 passed away Tuesday, May 10. She was the daughter of the late James Blackwood and the late Pearl Cornett. By occupation she was a medical transcriptionist, employed by the St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Perry County and a member of the Baptist Church and the Red Hat Club and Hazard Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Carlos Campbell. She is survived by daughters Donna Gwen Simpson of Airport Gardens and Carla Kaye Spare and husband Michael of Prestonsburg; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, May 12 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home in Hazard with Adam Feltner and James Hamblin officiating. Burial followed in the Resthaven Cemetery in Jeff. The following served as pallbearers: Mike Spare, Les Hanley, Danny Barhorst and Kelly Campbell. ********************************************* Opal Watson Opal Lee Godsey Watson, 65, departed this life on Monday, May 9 at the Hazard ARH medical center. Opal was the daughter of the late Millard Jones and the late Elvira Campbell Jones. By occupation she was an office clerk, employed by the Hazard ARH medical center. She was a lifelong resident of Perry County and a member of the Summertown Old Regular Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Hibbily Clan #31. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Howard Godsey; infant son Donald Ray Godsey; son Odis Michael Watson; brother Lawrence Jones; and sister Florence Kay Smith. She is survived by her husband, Ealy Watson of Bulan; sons Joseph Watson of Mallie and William Howard Godsey of McDonough, Ga.; brothers Bill Jones of Bulan and James Daniel Jones of Chicago; sisters Mabel Caines of Bulan, Mary Lou Jones of Bulan, Bobbie Jean Miller of Bulan and Carolyn Bishop of Madison, Al.; grandchildren Heather, Nicki, Chad, Dustin and Austin; great-grandson Conner; and special nieces Brenda Lovins and Anita Jones. Funeral services were held on Wednesday May 11 at the Engle-Walker Perry Chapel with Howard Owens and Paul Watson officiating. Burial followed at the Engle Cemetery in Knott County. ********************************************* Wayne Herald Wayne Herald, 49, of Hazard, died Wednesday, May 11 at the Hazard ARH medical center. He was the son of Bessie Herald and the late Willis Herald, and was also preceded in death by his son, Austin James, and father-in-law Estill Combs. He is also survived by his wife, Charity Rose; sons Clifton, Jerry, Calaway and Bobby; sisters Carol Sue and husband Donald, Ruthie and husband Donnie and Hazel and husband Glenn; brothers Harold and wife Marla, James and wife Karen, Clyde and wife Mae and Felix and wife Anna Faye; sister-in-law Jane Campbell; special friends Rick Begley and Ellis Grigsby and one grandchild. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 16. Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 17 with James Madden officiating. Interment will be at Herald Family Cemetery in Combs. ********************************************** Kimberly Inez Messer Kimberly Inez Messer, 28, of Hazard, died Friday, May 13 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was the daughter of the late William L. Benton and Vickie Fields. She is also survived by her husband, Otis Messer; daughters Autumn Makayla Alexis Messer and Alyssa McKenzie Messer; son Austin Skyler Willie Messer; sisters Tonya Everage and Lyndsey Heather Wells; brother Larry Keith Fields II; in-laws Willie and Wanda Messer; sisters-in-law Keisha Messer, Kassandra Messer and Regina Turner; and brother-in-law Willie Messer, Jr. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17. Services will immediately follow with Lyndon Barger officiating. Interment will be at the family cemetery in Scuddy. *********************************************** Margaret Lorine Davidson Margaret Lorine Davidson, 69, of La Follette, Tn., passed away on Wednesday, May 11 at St. Mary's Medical Center in La Follette. She was the daughter of the late Joshua Fugate and the late Mollie Davidson and was also preceded in death by her husband, Langley Davidson; daughter Tammy Fugate and four brothers. She is survived by daughter Darlene Neace and Bonnie Lou Wireman; son Namond Fugate; sister Edna McIntosh and Mary Elizabeth Gonzales along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard where the family received friends on Friday, May 13 with funeral services immediately following with Willie Wagers officiating. Interment was at Bush Cemetery at Pigeon Roost. ************************************************
