Baker, 73, husband of Doris Dallasanta Baker, passed away at 4:24 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4 at the Clark Regional Medical Center. A native of Hiner, he was the son of Mamie Baker of Perry County and the late Wilburn Baker. He was a retired IBM employee and a Presbyterian. Additional survivors include his son, Arnold Baker of Port St. Lucie, Fl. and his daughter, Lora A. Baker of Lexington. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10 at the Winchester Cemetery shelter by Charles Baker. ******************************************* Murrel C. Napier Murrel C. Napier, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, April 7 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezekiel Napier; parents Garrett and Nancy (Hamblin) Colwell; brother Paul Colwell and sister Maude Colwell. She was a member of White Mills Baptist Church and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and deeply cherished and loved by her family. She is survived by daughter Sharon N. Campbell of Charlestown, S.C. and Saundra Pelley and husband Wendell of Elizabethtown; grandsons Darren Campbell and wife Nanette of Orlando, Travis Pelley and wife Andrea and Kyle Pelley , all of Elizabethtown; granddaughter Darla Miller and husband Scott of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four great-grandchildren; sister Mae Campbell of Hazard and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted on Sunday, April 10 at White Mills Baptist Church with Revs. Bruce Underhill and Ron Lewis officiating. Burial took place in the White Mills Community Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. ******************************************** Ginger Patton Ginger Pratt Patton, 40, died Monday, May 2 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was born in Henderson, Ky., the daughter of Denver G. Pratt and Ann Johnson Pratt. She was a graduate of Hazard High School, Morehead State University and received her Master's Degree from Asbury College. She spent most of her career as a teacher in the Fayette County School System. She is survived by her son, Matthew Todd Patton; daughter Hannah Kathleen Patton; parents Denver G. Pratt and Ann Johnson Pratt of Carr Creek; sister Jennifer Pratt Larkin and husband Gary of Richmond; nephew Justin Ryan Pratt of Miami, Fl. and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 6 at 1 p.m. at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with the Rev. Ron Sholar and the Rev. Glenn Noe officiating. Burial will follow in the Carr Fork Cemetery in Knott County. Box 21903, Lexington, Kentucky 40522 ********************************************* Jerry Hughes Jr. Jerry Hughes, Jr., of Elyria, Ohio, formerly of Hazard, died Monday, May 2 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. He was an active member of UAW and a member of American Legion Post 396 and Amvets Post 22 where he was a previous commander of sons. He was also a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a graduate of Ohio School of Broadcasting. He loved karaoke, being a DJ and car shows where he showed his 1974 Corvette. He was the son of the late Jerry Hughes, Sr. and the late Bobbie Zadel Hughes. He is survived by daughter Jennifer Lidel Hebebrand and husband James and Kimberly Sue Basinksi and husband Matthew; sons Jerry Keith Hughes and wife Vickie and John Charles Hughes; sisters Carrie Sue Matlock and husband Russ, Judy Carol Burnworth and husband Eugene and Martha Ann Kuraczi and husband Dan; brother James Robert Hughes and wife Brenda and four grandchildren. He was a retired welder for Falcon Coal Co. and the son of Geneva Noble Messer and the late Fred Messer. She was the daughter of the late Elidge McIntosh and the late Dosha McIntosh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Birchel Campbell; son Jimmy Campbell; daughter Barbara Ann Calvert; sisters Irene and Viola; brothers Adam, Will and Wallace; grandsons Jamie Campbell and James Ryan Campbell. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Lynn Eversole; son Kenneth Campbell; sister Mae Colwell and six grandchildren. He was a retired door greeter at the Hazard Walmart and also served in the Air Force. He was the son of the late Henry Wells and the late Prudie Vanover Wells. He is survived by his wife, Edna Wells; daughter Jonnie Carlo Moore and husband Steve and Connie Sue Chandler and husband Jim; son Billy Joe Wells and wife Debbie; brother Joe Wells and wife Carolyn along with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by sons Eddie Bowling and wife Kitty of Rockville, Maryland and Tony Bowling and wife Sue of Hazard; daughters Sherry Cole and husband Wayne of Hazard and Mindy Francis and husband Kenneth "Beaver" of Hazard; and brother Jim Bowling and wife Missy of Stephens City, Va. She was also survived by six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Rev. Adam Feltner and Rev. James Hamblin officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Hazard.
