There are many mistakes made in genology, It was not as easy then as it is today where we sit down in the comfort of our homes. Much time & $ were spent on travels to Libaraies, courthouses & such. Many times it was spent on the telephone & corrasponding by U.S mail service with a vararity of family & friends, who ever it took to find information you were looking for at the time. Here is a correction for such mis-information, conserning the Perry co. Ky Couch family The supposed 2nd.marriage of John Couch & Elizabeth James Campbell. Dec. 1783 Orange Co NC. There are 2 john Couches (b.1750), 1 in Ashe co NC m. Boone. & other in (1745) Orange co NC. There has been confushion between these 2 men. David & Ruth Couch were able to seperate some un truths or honest mistakes over the years on the inter-net. John (1750) of Ashe co. m. Boone, NEVER married Orange co NC Elizabeth Campbell Dec 1783 or Mary (Couch) Patterson. They proved Orange co (1745) John's mother was Mary Couch Patterson from her will 1796. widow mary couch marries widower john patterson age 60,in orange co nc in 1777. he died april 1787. mary died in feb 1796. provisions of her will state property will be divided amoung the children of john & (deceased) besty (campbell) her grand children ! mary, letitia, july, elenor, elizabeth. all under 18. Mecklenburg co. Va. john couch marries 2nd to susanna smith oct 1799. john dies july 1823 leaves a will naming wife susanna & son john & letty (letitia), polly (mary), julia (july), ealinor & elizabeth. As you see same children but john must be with new from wife susanna. Which proves (1750) John Couch of Ashe co & Ky was NEVERED married to his daughters mother - in-law. Elizabeth Campbell.
