All we have said was " the Dec.1783 marriage in Orange Co of Couch & Campbell is NOT our Couch of Ashe Co NC. Orange Co Couch & Campbell are from a different lines, Just Not ours. As to John divorcing Elizabeth and marrying Mary Patterson I don't think so, even though someone has put a gravestone in a cemetery in Perry Co that says Mary Patterson Couch. I cannot prove what I am saying, but neither can you guys. It might sound good when you put it together like that but it is still speculation and I think we have had enough speculation (told as truth) in our Couch family for way too long... why don't we all just be honest and say 'I think' and not cause any more confusion. A note from David says: I asked Ruth Couch to assist me in researching your John Couch (born: ca. 1750). Ruth and I have spent a number of hours and have come up with a theory and some conclusions. I have attached a draft of our theory. Most of it isn't theory any longer, because Ruth went through boxes of paper records she has collected since the 1960's. We have come to the conclusion that John Couch had only one wife, Mary Polly Boone.
