He was the son of the late Billy Joe Humphrey and the late Leatrice Young Humphrey. He is survived by daughters Miranda Coffelt and Randell Stacy, and Sherri Beam and husband Chris; sons Joe Lewis and Billy Edmonson and wife Holly; sister Patricia Ann Humphrey; niece Leatrice Humphrey, along with five grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 15. Services will follow with Donnie Enfusse officiating. Interment will be at Young Cemetery located at Lost Creek. ****************************************** Virginia M. Axline Virginia M. Axline, 76, of Hazard, died Friday, July 8 at the hospice care center in Hazard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Axline, and sister Sierra Hazel Chappell. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Vineyard and husband Michael; grandchild Dawn Michelle Clark; great-grandchildren Sierra Clark and Cody Clark; beloved friends Ray Haynes, Nany Colemen, Buck Jones, Lonnie Begley and best girl friend Donna Starling. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. A graveside service will be held at Jack Combs Shackelford Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. ******************************************* E. C. Colwell E.C. Colwell, 68, of Busy, died Friday, July 8 at the hospice care center in Hazard. He was the son of the late William Colwell and the late Della Couch Colwell, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Barb Colwell; brother Clarence Colwell and sisters Angela Becker and Elizabeth Colwell. He is survived by his daughter, Bridget Colwell; brothers Floyd Colwell and E.C. Colwell, Jr.; sisters Paladine Colwell, Pat Colwell, Pokey Colwell and Laverine Colwell; brothers Rufus Colwell, Bill Colwell and John Henry Colwell, along with 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14. Services will immediately follow. Interment will be at Baker Cemetery in Busy. ******************************************* Charlotte Combs Charlotte Combs, 59, of Chavies, passed away on July 7 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was a clerk for Hazard ARH for many years, and was preceded in death by her father, Ruben Lumpkins, and brother Kermit Lee Lumpkins. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Combs; mother Virginia Lumpkins; daughters Mary Knight and husband Larry and Lynn Brown and husband Ryan; step daughter Charlotte Sandlin and husband Justin; sisters Lois Jenkins, Shelby Hogue, Christine Jones, Lucinda Pettit, Goldie Stidham and Ruby Hunt; brothers Everette, Kenneth, and Frank Lumpkins; grandchildren Brittany Joseph, Rylan Brown, Kynlee Brown, Mason James Sandlin, Bridgette Redmond and Zachary Knight, and grandchild Brylee Kate Redmond. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family received friends on Saturday, July 9. Services were held on Sunday, July 10 with Paul Hensley and Teddy Bailey officiating. Burial took place at the Johnson Cemetery in Chavies. ******************************************** Thomas Sutton, Jr Thomas Allen Sutton Jr., 83, died Sunday, July 10 at the Hazard ARH medical Center in Hazard. Mr. Sutton was a lifelong resident of Perry County and an avid member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.A and Flossie Sutton, and sister Geneva Fields. He is survived by his wife, Edith Sutton; sons Ronnie Sutton and Donnie Sutton; daughters Connie Sutton, Treesa Thacker and Glenna Lesondak. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday July 12 at the Engle Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Hazard with Rev. Troy Smith, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Hazard. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday where the family will receive friends until 2 p.m. ********************************************** Nasia B. Miller Nasia B. Miller, 75, of Hazard, died Saturday, July 9 at Hospice Care Center in Hazard. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Combs and the late Polly Fugate Combs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Miller, and daughter Donnie Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Miller; sons Jim Miller, Jr. and Christopher Chad Miller; sister Donna Hoskins; brother French Combs; special sister-in-law Cleda Mae Hughes, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. Visitation was at the Lost Creek Pentecostal Church where the family received friends on Sunday, July 10. Services were held on Monday, July 11 with Ova Jean Miller and Robert Noble officiating. Interment will be at Miller Cemetery at Lost Creek. *********************************************** Jeffery David Branson Jeffery David Branson, 49, died Friday, July 8 at his home in Viper. The son of Ronnie Clark and Trena Caudill, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Eliza Caudill, and paternal grandfather Willard Clark. He is also survived by his stepfather, Jimmy Branson; paternal grandmother Bessie Clark; sister Candy Clark Wolfe; brothers Rick Branson and wife Debbie, James Michael Branson and wife Sherrie and Ronald Clark; nieces and nephews Sonya York, Jamie Branson, Zack Branson, Chelsea Wolfe, Jason Wolfe and Daelyn Wolfe; great nephews Avery David Ricky York along with a host of aunts and uncles. He was the son of Mary Ann Grigsby and the late Hargis Grigsby. He is also survived by daughter Janice Applegate and husband Dwayne and Jessica Grigsby and Kevin Hogan; son Keith Smith; sister Pamela Grigsby; brothers Hargis Gene Grigsby, Johnny Dean Grigsby and Oscar Grigsby; grandchildren Hailey Applegate, Logan Applegate, Kira Stacy, Tess Stacy and Makenzie Hogan; special friend Connie Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Interment will be at Smith Cemetery located at Lotts Creek. ************************************************** Brigett Jones-Clemons Brigett Dawn Jones-Clemons, 47, of Hi Hat, Ky., passed away Friday, July 8 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard. She was the wife of Terry Clemons and the daughter of Nora Lou Jones and the late Dennis "Bob" Jones. She is also preceded in death by her son, Matthew Branham. Brigett was a devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter. She loved her family and friends and always cherished the fact that she was from the coalfields of eastern Kentucky. She is survived by her husband, Terry Clemons of Hi Hat; mother Nora Lou Mathews Jones of Hi Hat; daughter Candi Branham Gilley and husband James of Dorton, Ky.; son Cody Branham and wife Carissa of Pikeville; step-son Kevin Clemons and wife Jamie of Wayland, Ky.; brother Brian Jones of Hi Hat; special friend and sister-in-law Audrey Jones of Martin, Ky.; grandchildren Jared and Justin Gilley; niece DeNora Jones; nephew Presley Jones and a host of family and friends. She is also survived by her biological brothers and sisters, Jeanette, Kenneth, Susie, Darlene, Rita, Freddie, Suzanne, Elisha and Virginia. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 10 at 1 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Clemons and Randall Short officiating. Entombment will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky. Visitation will be held Friday after 6 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born in Perry County to the late Tucson and Eula Herald. He is survived by his brother, Henry Herald of Darfork; sisters Sheila Begley of Bonnyman and Martha Combs of Combs; special nieces Kimberly Combs and Nikkie Combs, both of Combs, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12 at the Engle-Walker Chapel in Hazard with Merrill David Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Sizemore family cemetery at Combs. The family will receive friends for visitation between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. prior to the funeral services. *************************************************
