Lois Ann Combs Lois Ann Combs, 63, of Bulan, died Tuesday, February 22 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was the daughter of the late Paul Walker and the late Ollie Mae Long, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Wade Combs. She is survived by daughters Diane Johnson and husband Eddie and Carolyn Combs and husband Anthony; sons Larry Combs and wife Janet and Jason Keith Combs; sisters Evelyn Woodall, Annie Cornett and Kathy Watts; brothers Paul Walker, Jr., James Denny Walker, David Long and Kenny Long; grandchildren Wade Johnson, Henry Johnson, Emily Black, Cynthia Black, Kaitlyn Combs and Nicholas Combs. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 25 at the Hardburly Baptist Church. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 26 with Johnny Ambrose officiating. Interment will be at Curt Napier Cemetery at Lotts Creek. Pallbearers will be Troy Walker, Denny Walker, Anthony Black, Bobbie Watts and David Marlowe. ****************************************** Bert Valentine Jr. Bert Valentine, Jr., 68, died Tuesday, February 15 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in Hazard, the son of the late Bert Valentine, Sr. and the late Mavis Jean Owens. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Eliza Deaton, and brother Paul Russell Owens. He is survived by his sons, Ronald Marion, Kenny Valentine, Paul Michael Valentine, Jonathan Fugate, Billie Fugate and Paul Howard; daughters Janet Lynn Anderson, Dixie Jo Coots, Lisa Skirvin, Candace Holder, Melissa Valentine, Sheena Fugate, Sabrina Valentine, Shelby Valentine and Paula Collins; brother Doug Owens; and sisters Sandra Whitaker, Linda Marion, Connie Higdon and Rhonda Shelton. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, special friends Dean and Linda Crawford and a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in Little Leatherwood, the daughter of the late Reason "Slick" Boggs and the late Bell Smith Boggs. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur "Shag" Bailey and sisters Linda Lou Hamilton and Maxine Bonner. She is survived by her husband, Frank F. Ingram of Little Leatherwood; son Richard L. Ingram and wife Kathy of Little Leatherwood; daughter Donna Ingram Bowling of Hazard; brothers Charles Boggs and Lawrence Boggs, both of Little Leatherwood, and Larry Colon Boggs of Cornettsville; sisters Margie Sizemore of Jeff and Lois Griffith of Little Leatherwood; grandson Joshua Wade Bowling and wife Holly of Morgantown, West Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was retired from HA Spalding Engineers where she was a secretary, treasurer and vice president for 43 years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hazard. The daughter of the late Chester Ross and the late Bertie Ross, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Ross. She is survived by her husband, Charles Simpson; daughter Sally Spaulding and husband Hank; son Charley Simpson, Jr. and wife Kimberly; sisters Irene Blair and Jeannette New; grandchildren Angela Haney, Carrie Combs, Skyler Fugate and Dan Spaulding along with seven great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughters Brenda Wooton and Shirley Smith and husband Ronnie; sons Ricky Glen Eversole, Marty Williams and Elbert Hardin; sisters Rosa Lee Baker, Melissa Williams and Eva Mae Garrison; brothers Julius Hardin Williams and Reason Williams along with nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was born in Perry County, the son of the late Johnnie Deaton and the late Mimmie Smith Deaton. He was a lifelong resident of Perry County, and was a member of the Perry County DAV Chapter #64. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a farmer by occupation. He was also preceded in death by brothers Bud Deaton and Billie Deaton and sisters Bessie Moore and Thelma Gilbert. He is survived by his brother, Ed Deaton and wife Edna of Buckhorn; sisters Oma Jean Johnson of Buckhorn, Edna Wells and husband Jerry of Hazard and Charlene Amis of Franklin, Ohio along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, February 21 at the Johnson United Baptist Church at Buckhorn with Gary Riley, Elmo Johnson and Chris Turner officiating. Military rites were conducted by the Perry County DAV Chapter # 64. The burial followed in the Johnson Cemetery at Buckhorn. He is survived by his mother, Christine S.
