She is survived by her husband, McClellan Ison of Hazard; son Russell Ison of Lebanon Junction, Ky.; daughter Jeanette Caldwell of Happy, Becky Perkins of Happy, Arlene Leedy of Hazard and Mildred Baker of Glendale; brothers Lester Dixon and Noble Dixon; sisters Wanda Caudill and Elva Ison; along with eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and many friends. Arrangements were handled by Brashear-Callahan Funeral Home of Viper where the visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. Services will begin at 1 p.m. at the Cedar Grove Old Regular Baptist Church with Danny Dixon, Squire Watts and Elwood Cornett officiating. Burial will be at Campbell Cemetery. ********************************************* Calaway Oliver Calaway Oliver, 78, of Yerkes, died Saturday, December 10 at the Hazard Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was preceded in death by his father, Wiley Oliver; wife Nancy Carol Oliver; grandson Jason Oliver and a host of siblings. He is survived by his son, Calaway Oliver, Jr. and wife Glenna; grandchild Barbara Foster; great-grandchildren Nathaniel, Alexander, and Naomi Foster; and a host of family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 15 with Paul Couch officiating. Interment will be at Oliver Cemetery at Yerkes. ********************************************** Lona Smith Lona Halcomb Smith, 82, of Little Leatherwood, died Monday, December 12 at the hospice care center in Hazard. She is survived by her daughter, Lena Mullins of Little Leatherwood; daughter-in-law JoAnn Smith Shepherd; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Brashear-Callahan Funeral Home of Viper where the visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. Services will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 15 with Nick Reigns officiating. Burial will be at the Halcomb Cemetery. *********************************************** Donnie Cornett Donnie Cornett, 39, of Viper, passed away on Saturday, December 11 at the Hazard ARH medical center. He is survived by his father, Donnie Cornett; mother Juanita Trent-Cornett of Viper; sister Mazzie Ann Cornett of Paintsville and Kayla Renea Cornett of Hallie; and special friends Denise Marcum of Vicco. Arrangements were handled by the Brashear-Callahan Funeral Home of Viper. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Services will be at the church in Cornettsville at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13 with Kenny Salmons officiating. Burial will be in the Holbrook and Couch Cemetery in Leatherwood. ************************************************ Martin Bowling Martin Lewis Bowling, 77, departed this life on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at his residence in Krypton. He was born in Harveyton, Ky., the son of the late Woolery Bowling and the late Lula Begley Bowling. He was a life-long resident of Perry County and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Gale Bowling, and sister Martha Deaton. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Bowling of Krypton; sons Roger Bowling of Meadowbranch and Marty Bowling and wife Sandy of Meadowbranch; daughters Sharon Burchfield and husband Bill of Middlesboro, Peggy Mullins of Middlesboro, and Lizzie Bowling of Harrogate, Tennessee; brothers Bradley Bowling of Krypton, G.L. Bowling and wife Peggy of Somerset, Bill Bowling and wife Diane of Ohio and Jimmy Bowling and wife Jackie of Ohio; sisters Rose Nell Campbell and husband Oakley of Weaverville, North Carolina and Mary Campbell of Krypton; sister-in-law Louise Campbell of Krypton; brother-in-law Isaac McIntosh of Krypton; along with 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Services were conducted on Saturday, December 10 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Jim Sluss, Nathaniel Collins and Pete Youmans officiating. The burial followed in the family cemetery located at Meadowbranch. ************************************************* Mark Walters Mark Walters, 88, of Bulan, died Friday, December 9 at the hospice care center in Hazard. He was a retired coal miner and the son of the late Willie Walters and the late Rosa Walters. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Walters, and brothers Luke, Earnest and Bill Walters. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Walters; sister Ruth Hudson; brother Bobby Walters; grandchild Tiffany Adams and a host of family and friends. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Hazard. ************************************************* Eddie Wayne Johnson Eddie Wayne Johnson, 58, died Friday, December 9 at his home in Hazard. He was a retired carpenter and the son of the late Roy Johnson and the late Dollie Stidham Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clayburn Johnson. He is survived by sons Shawn Johnson and Ronnie Wayne Johnson; sisters Thelma Asher and Geraldine Gullett; brothers Richard Johnson, Paul Johnson, Roy Johnson, Jr., Ricky Joe Johnson and Ronnie Johnson; special friends Evalee Deaton; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. Services were held at the Combs Church of God on Monday, December 12 with Nathanial Fugate and Larry Smith officiating. Interment was at Red Hill Cemetery at Chavies. ************************************************* Mollie Sizemore Mollie Bowling Sizemore, widow of Bernice Sizemore, died Saturday, December 3 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born July 1, 1917 in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Levi and America Gibson Bowling. A resident of Hazard until 1978, Mollie loved her churches Harrodsburg Pentecostal Church of God and Burgin Church of God. She was an active member of Burgin Homemaker's Club and Mercer County Senior Citizens. Survivors include two daughters: Delores "Dee" (David) Avington of Parkersburg, W.V., and Betty (Gene) Motley of Harrodsburg. Four grandchildren: Gina (Tim) Colleran of Danville, Carla (Paul) Lehman of Blythewood, S.C., Lath (Krissy) Motley of Lawrenceburg, and Bethany (Tom) Atkinson of Decatur, GA. Six great grandchildren: Skyler Motley, Grace, Lydia, and Dexter Lehman, and Luke and Landon Atkinson. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Chester, Pearl and Daniel, and three sisters: Lilly, Rella, and Serena. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 5 at the Shawnee Run Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Irvin and Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Burial was in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Lath Motley, Nic Brown, Mickey Bowling, Tim Colleran, Paul Lehman, and Tom Atkinson serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mercer County Senior Citizens. ************************************************* Arco Cress Arco Cress, 79, of Hazard, died Tuesday, December 6 at the hospice care center in Hazard. He was retired from Bizzack where he worked in highway construction. He was the son of the late Farris Cress and the late Thelma Miniard Cress, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Roscoe Cress. He is survived by his wife, Verda Cress; daughter Linda Cress; step-daughter Jackie Grigsby; sisters Lois Fowler and Joyce Blankenship; brother Fernando Cress; special niece and nephew Greg and Carolyn Horn; and grandchild Krista Makenzie Grigsby. Arrangements are being handed by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 9. Services will begin at noon on Saturday, December 10 with Dana Feltner officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Jeff. ************************************************
