Alex Combs November 24, 2011 journal-news.net S Alex Combs, 52, of Harpers Ferry, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at the Martinsburg City Hospital. Born Sept. 9, 1959, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Floyd Combs, Sr., and America McDaniel Combs. He was a foreman for S.W. Rogers. Alex is survived by his wife, Penny Diane Weller Combs, at home; one daughter, Casey Lynn Combs, of Harpers Ferry; three grandchildren, Hailie Diane Zavala, Alex Drew Zavala and Chase Ottavio Maltese; four brothers, Frank Combs, of Ranson, Aster Combs, of Hedgesville, Joseph Lee Combs, of Michigan and William Combs, of Charles Town; three sisters, Verna Turner, Freda Aronowitz and Shirley Weller, all of Harpers Ferry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman Luther Combs, Floyd Combs, Jr., and Howard Combs; two sisters, Dora Griffith and Donna Moore; and one niece, Crystal Dawn Weller. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ollie Baer officiating. Interment will be in the Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
