She was born July 1, 1927 in Yerkes, the daughter of the late Charlie Stidham and the late Zola Campbell Stidham, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Fugate; son Tony Fugate; sister Rose Hatcher; brothers Bill and Estes Stidham; son-in-law Fred D. Fugate; and grandsons Scotty and Neil Fugate. Helen was a lifelong resident of Perry County and was a member of the Yerkes Baptist Church. She is survived by sons Greg Fugate and wife Priscilla of Jeff and Teddy Fugate and wife Ilene of Nashville, Tn.; daughter Pam Fugate of Lower Second Creek; daughter-in-law Sandy Fugate of Busy; brothers Randy Stidham and Donnie Stidham, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, along with five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 30 at 11 a.m. at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Paul Couch officiating. The interment will follow in the Yerkes Baptist Church Cemetery located at Yerkes. The visitation will be at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. **************************************** Eva Smith Eva Jean Smith, 57, died Tuesday, December 27 at the Bethany Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville. She was born February 5, 1954 in Perry County, the daughter of the late Robert Walls and the late Hazel Napier Walls. She is survived by her son, Jamie Walls of Hazard; daughters Angela Hill and husband Mitchell of Hazard and Rebecca Walls of Hazard; brothers Sammy Walls and Mike Walls, both of Hazard; sisters Bobbie Ann Deaton, Patricia Walls, and Vickie Colwell, all of Hazard, along with 10 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. There will be a visitation on Saturday, December 31 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard from 10 a.m. to noon. ***************************************** Nola Finley Nola Finley, 67, of Craborchard, Ky., passed away on Monday, December 26 at the Ephriam McDowell Hospital in Danville, Ky. She is survived by daughters Donna Burke of Craborchard, Lois Finley of Craborchard and Bessie medley of Stanford; brothers Lester Coots of Viper and Paul Coots of Hyden; sisters Catherine Brock of Indiana, Geraldine Coots of Viper, Ruth Ann Coots of Viper and Lucy Coots of Viper, along with six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, December 30 at the Brashear-Callahan Funeral Home of Viper. Services will immediately follow with Carl Baker officiating. Burial will take place at the Coots Family Cemetery. ****************************************** Theda Caudill Theda Tressa Caudill, 72, died Sunday, December 25 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was born June 20, 1939 in Wolfe County, the daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Bush. She had been living in Viper for the last 20 years, and enjoyed her family photo albums, and was very dedicated to reading her Bible. She was also a lifelong member of the Right Fork Pentecostal Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Corbett Caudill of Viper; son Kenneth Caudill of Carlisle, Ohio; daughters Barbara Hambrick and husband Nelson of Fairfield, Ohio and Gerri Lynn Kisch and husband Arpad of Tampa, Florida; brother Freddie Madden of Zephyrhills, Florida; sister Kay Fields of Hazard; grandchildren Nikki Smith, Corbett Wayne Hambrick, Benjamin Hambrick, Caroline Kisch, Andrew Kisch and Jonathan Kisch; great-grandchildren Linda Marie Hambrick, Benjamin Hambrick, Jr. and Isabella Smith, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Services were conducted on Wednesday, December 28, at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Calvin Williams officiating. The interment followed in the William H. Caudill Cemetery located at Viper. ****************************************** Christopher Allen Christopher Lloyd Allen, 35, died Friday, December 23 at his home in Hazard. He was born on June 20, 1976 to the late Lloyd Ray Allen and Ann Bentz Allen in Hazard Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his father, maternal grandmother Della Bates Bentz, maternal grandfather Ott Bentz, paternal grandmother Dorothy Baize Allen, and paternal grandfather Charles Lloyd Allen. He is survived by his mother, Ann Allen; daughter Cassidy Kay Allen; sister Michele Blackford, along with six aunts, one uncle, all of Hazard, Kentucky and a host of other friends and relatives. Funeral services were held at the Engle Walker Funeral Home Chapel on East Main Street in Hazard on Tuesday, December 27 with the Reverend John Pray officiating. Burial was at the Resthaven Cemetery located at Jeff. ******************************************* Sharon Jones Sharon Marie Jones, 63, died Friday, December 23. She was born on September 26, 1948 in Buffalo, New York to the late Francis Joseph Cayea and Marion Schulz Cayea , and is also preceded in death by her husband, Benny Wilson; brothers Wayne Cayea and Francis Cayea. She is survived by her sons, Ledford Karr of Knott County and Jeffery David Karr and Teresa of Hazard; daughters Marion Grace Cayea and husband Johnny, Jeannie Marie Wilson, and Gail Ann Wilson, all of Hazard; brother Michael Cayea of Hazard; sister Gail Petrikewtz of Chicago, along with 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held on Thursday, December 29 at the Engle Walker Funeral Home Chapel on East Main Street in Hazard at 3 p.m. with Brian Miller officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation between the hours of noon until 3 p.m. on Thursday. ******************************************** Charles Simpson, Sr. Charles Begley Simpson, Sr., 84, died Thursday, December 22 at his home in Hazard. He was a retired businessman and author, and the son of the late James H. Simpson and the late Sallie Begley Simpson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Geneva Rose Simpson, and brother Jimmy Simpson. He is survived by his daughter, Sally Spaulding and husband Hank; son Charley Simpson and wife Kimberly; brother William G. Simpson; special friends Patty and Eddie Brown; grandchildren Angie, Carrie, Skyler, Dan and Jordan; and great-grandchildren Emily, Jacob, Kaelin, Aiden, Cole and Kyle. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family received friends on Monday, December 26. Services followed with Rev. Ellen PEach officiating. Interment was at Resthaven Cemetery in Jeff. ******************************************** Courtney Stidham Courtney Stidham, 83, of Hazard, died Monday, December 19 at the Hazard ARH medical center. He was a retired coal miner and the son of the late Jarrett Stidham and the late Vivian Miller Stidham. He was also preceded in death by granddaughters Elizabeth Ashley and Eva Stidham; brother Willie Stidham and sister Ada Smith. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Stidham; daughters Phyllis Noble and husband Bronson, Judy Boggs and husband James, Debbie Stidham, Patricia Hurt and husband Elven, Pamela Feltner and husband Von and Shannon McIntosh and husband Michael; sons Gary Stidham, Larry Stidham and wife Bonnie, Lonnie Stidham and wife Sharon and Brian Stidham and wife Alisha; sisters Nancy Ann Hensley, Betty Watts, Dessie Shepherd and Nanny Howard; brothers Don Stidham, H.K. Stidham, Robin Stidham, Herman Stidham and Kenneth Stidham; along with 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family received friends on Wednesday, December 21. Services will begin at noon on Thursday, December 22 with Paul Turner, Pete Youmans and Norvell Gambill officiating. Interment will be at Stidham Cemetery in Grapevine. ********************************************** Roger Joseph Roger Joseph, 60, departed this life on Monday, December 19 at his residence in Viper. He was born September 3, 1951 at Farler, Ky., the son of the late Levi Joseph and the late Annie Williams Joseph. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Reuben Joseph. He was a life-long resident of Perry County and enjoyed being in the mountains, fishing, watching his hummingbirds and ginsenging. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Joseph of Viper; son Roger Andy Joseph and wife Ashley of Hazard; daughters Donna Kay Combs and husband Roy of Hazard, Peggy Shutte and husband Steve of Cincinnati, Dorsie Cornett and husband Roger of Cornettsville, and Eulene Caudill and husband Brent of Cornettsville; brothers Lawrence Tommy Joseph and wife Frances of Slemp, Zallie Shell, Jr. and wife Velma of Viper and Everett Joseph and wife Essie of Viper; sisters Mary Ann Jent and husband Milo of Viper and Brenda Johnson of Viper; and grandchildren Cameron, Tyler, Haley, Gavyn, Nicholas, Ethan, Brooklyn, R.J., Rebecca and Emma. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 22 at 1 p.m. at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Calvin Williams and Mitch Fields officiating. The interment will follow in the Adams-Lewis Cemetery located at Viper. ***********************************************
