He is survived by sisters Madeline Huff of Cincinnati and Norise and Mary Jane Campbell, both of Little Leatherwood, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and many friends. Arrangements were handled by Brashear-Callahan Funeral Home of Viper where the visitation was held on Sunday, December 18. Services were conducted on Monday, December 19 with Squire Watts officiating. Interment was at Press Whitaker Cemetery on Line Fork. ********************************************* Lester Bowling, Sr. Lester Bowling, Sr., 89, departed this life on Friday, December 16. He was born March 20, 1922 in Bowlingtown, the son of the late Woolery D. Bowling and the late Nannie Couch Bowling, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Barger Bowling, brothers Fred and Garrett Bowling. Before retiring in 1980, Lester was a fork lift driver for Glass Container Corporation in Indianapolis for 18 years. Previously, he was a coal miner for Blue Diamond Coal Company for 11 years. He had lived in Indianapolis for 39 years, and Bowlingtown for 50 years. He was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church. He was also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel and Honorary Mayor of Bowlingtown, and also he helped raise his siblings. He is survived by sons Lester Bowling, Jr. and wife Connie of Indianapolis, Estil Bowling and wife Karen of Indianapolis and Ben Bowling and wife Tracy of Mooresville, In.; daughter Irene Clemmons and husband Kevin of Mooresville; sisters Maltie Woods, Thelma Means, Maureen Campbell, Nannie Jean Baker, Dorothy Willis and Dolly Mae Combs; along with 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, December 19 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Rev. Logan Wayne Bowling officiating. The interment followed in the Harrison Bowling Cemetery located at Bowlingtown. *********************************************** Marie Gabbard Marie Gabbard, 79, died Saturday, December 17 at her home in Hazard. She was the daughter of the late Jess Johnson and the late Louella Turner, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Omar Gabbard; son Jimmy Bush, Jr.; along with four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by daughters Peggy Craft and husband Jerry and Diana Campbell and husband Jimmy; sons Gregory Bush and wife Lovonna, Brandon Bush and wife Sheila and David Bush; along with 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, December 19. Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20 with Fred Ballard officiating. Interment will be at Haddix Cemetery in Haddix, Ky. ************************************************ Travis Stidham Travis Stidham, 42, died Monday, December 12 in Lagrange, Ohio. He is survived by his mother, Imogene Fox and step-father Kelly Fox, along with his father Jack Justice and a host of family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. Visitation will be at the Busy Pentecostal Church where the family will receive friends after 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 18. Services will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 19 with Rev. J.L. McIntosh officiating. Interment will be at Stidham-Campbell Cemetery in Busy. ************************************************* Irvin Combs Irvin Combs, 72, of Combs, died Thursday, December 15 at the Hazard ARH medical center. He was a retired mechanic and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late Jerry Combs and the late Mae Gambill Combs, and was also preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Combs, and half-brother, Hershel Combs. He is survived by his daughter, Willa Mae Archer; sons Robert Lee Combs and Irvin Lee Combs; grandchildren Delilah Southwood, Bobbie Joe Combs, Ronnie Lee Southwood and Wesley Litton Combs; along with one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard. A graveside service will be at Eversole Cemetery in Hazard at noon on Saturday, December 17 with Roy Johnson officiating. David rites will be administered by Hazard Chapter 64. ************************************************** Clyde Haynes Clyde Haynes, 56, departed this life on Monday, December 12 at the Hazard ARH medical center. He was born December 26, 1954 in Hazard, the son of the late Thomas Haynes and the late Bertha Faye Hollifield Haynes. He was also preceded in death by brothers Paul, Wade, Denzil and Mark Haynes. He was a life-long resident of Combs, where he was married to his wife Zola for 35 years, who survives him. He is also survived by his son, Clyde Haynes, Jr. and wife Tonya of Combs; daughter Angel Gail Haynes of Combs; brothers Clay Haynes of Beattyville, Curtis Haynes of Combs, and Lucas and Larry Haynes, both of Hazard; sister Juanita Faye Sebastian of Hazard; sisters-in-law Penny Sizemore of Avawam and Polly Haynes of Combs; brother-in-law John Haynes and wife Donna of Combs; grandchildren Anthony, Dylan and Brooke, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, December 14 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard with Merill David Collins officiating. The interment followed in the Deaton Cemetery at Combs. *************************************************** Donald Coleman Donald Coleman, 75, departed this life on Sunday, December 11 at the Hazard ARH medical center. He was born February 17, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late John and Elsie Coleman. He is survived by sons Frank Coleman and wife Jennifer of Silver Springs, Maryland, Don Coleman II and wife Crystal of Viper and Rob Coleman of Big Creek; along with five brothers, and three grandchildren: Madison, Chloe and Summer. There will be a memorial visitation on Tuesday, December 13 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard. **************************************************** Leonard Howard Leonard Howard, 63, of Hazard, died Monday, December 12 at the Hazard ARH medical center. He was the son of the late Worley Howard and the late Zola Combs Howard, and was also preceded in death by brothers Elbert, Ralph, Woodrow, James, Clarence and Raymond; and sisters Geneva and Ola. He is survived by his wife, Oma Howard; daughters Zola Hibbard, Angela Howard and Crystal Couch; son Christopher Howard and wife Jeannie; sister Juanita Ritenour; brothers Lester Howard, Boyd Howard, Wallace Howard and Dexter Howard; along with nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14. Services will begin at noon on Thursday, December 15. Interment will be at Johnson Cemetery in Chavies. ****************************************************** Kara LeAnn Jones Kara LeAnn Jones, 29, died Monday, December 12 at her home in Viper. She is survived by her father, Thomas Jones and wife Diann; mother Gloria Jean Jones; daughters Kaylee Paige Sizemore and Lindsey Faith Sizemore; son Kaden Thomas Miller; brother Kris Jones; step-brothers Jamie, Shannon and Daniel; sister-in-law Michelle Jones; aunts Brenda Akemon and Paula Rogers; and uncle Bobby Jones. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 15. Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 16 with Rev. Michael Barnett officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Jeff. ******************************************************
