Published in the Hazard Herald 7 Dec 2011 *************************************** Dixie Louise Fletcher Dixie Louise Fletcher, 53, died Thursday, December 1 at the hospice care center in Hazard. Born on November 16, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Lonzo Williams and the late Patsy Caudill Williams, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Fletcher. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Jerry Fletcher and wife Marcia of Dwarf; daughter Mary Grigsby of Lotts Creek; brother Rabon Williams of Viper; sisters Verna Davies of Bulan and Angie Holland of Viper; special friend Roy Pete Jones; along with seven grandsons and one granddaughter and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Right Fork Pentecostal Church in Viper on Sunday, December 4 with Alfred Smith and Calvin Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Caudill Cemetery located at Viper. Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard was in charge of arrangements. **************************************** Norma Lee Combs Norma Lee Combs, 85, died Saturday, December 3 at her home in Hazard. She is the daughter of the late Adam Fugate and the late Judy Shepherd Fugate. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Combs; sons John David Combs and Eugene Combs; and daughters Donna Combs Hatton and Sharon Rose Combs Campbell. She is survived by daughters Bernadette Smith and Linda Ann Mullins and husband Bernie; sons Adam Frederick Combs and James Darrell Combs and wife Teresa; sisters Ida Burd, Agatha Combs, Jenny Clair and Jan Southwell; brother Rufus Fugate; along with 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, December 5. Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6 with Bob Combs, Juanita Combs and Doug Finley officiating. Burial will be held at the James and Norma Combs Family Cemetery at Lotts Creek. ***************************************** Zola Bersaglia Zola Bersaglia, 85, of Hazard, died Friday, December 2 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was the daughter of the late Isaac Miller and the late Hannie Miller, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Santino Bersaglia; brothers Luther Miller, Hiram Miller and French Miller; and sister Goldie. She is survived by daughters Mary Humphrey and Tina Cabbage; sons Santino Viscondo Bersaglia and Freddie Bersaglia; sisters Callie Campbell, Nancy Combs, Sadie Smith and Adna Miller; brothers Ora Miller, Andy Miller, Herman Miller and Astor Miller; special friend Mike Wendell; along with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, December 5. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6 with Johnny Ambrose officiating. Interment will be at Napier Cemetery in Hiner. ****************************************** Harold Sigmon Harold Alfred Sigmon, 77, the beloved husband of Caroline Stone Sigmon, died on Monday, November 27 at Tuomey Medical Center. He was born on August 30, 1934 in Newton, North Carolina, a son of the late George and Edna Sigmon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He spent over 20 years in the coal mining business in Eastern Kentucky. He built two golf courses in Sumter and Clarendon County and operated a farm in Clarendon County. After the devastation of Hurricane Hugo he formed the Sumter Reforestation Company that helped clear fallen trees and replant. He was a co-owner of the Best of Seasons Restaurant. Mr. Sigmon was an avid hunter, fisherman and friend to many; he also had a life-long love of music. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Harold Alfred Sigmon, Jr. of Myrtle Beach; step-sons Michael Woodrow Baird, Jr., and his wife Sherry and Theodore (Tad) Stone Baird, all of Sumter; two daughters, Margaret Sigmon Maggard and her husband Danny of Kentucky and Mary Beth Freeman and her husband Tom of Myrtle Beach; three brothers, Daniel Edward Sigmon, James Andrew Sigmon and Charles Ernest Sigmon; one sister, Louise Sigmon Hunter; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Molly Setzer Sigmon of Georgetown, Ky. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Al Sigmon, Mike Baird, Tad Baird, Bernard Gilliam, Tom Freeman, Danny Maggard and Trey Sigmon. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Richard May, Lad Owens, Junior Laws, Dr. Billy Clowney, Miles Hodge, Carroll Avins and Richard Bowman The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 12- 2, two-hours prior to the service at the church. She was born in Hazard on December 13, 1950, the daughter of Brown and Rinda Eldridge. Lucy was employed as an STNA at Hawhtorn Glen Nursing Center for 20 years. On June 27, 1967 in Hazard she married Herman Colwell. She is survived by her husband, Herman Colwell; children Peggy Mullins and husband John and James Colwell, all of Monroe; brothers Boone Eldridge of Busy, Marshall Eldridge and wife Sharon of Viper, and Burtis Eldridge of Austin; sisters Delphia Pratt of Viper, and Ruth Hicks and husband Chester of Hindman; grandchildren Crystal, Randall, Koby and Casey; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee. She was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Herman Jr. and Lana Colwell. Visitation was held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 29 and Wednesday, November 30 at Engle Walker Funeral Home of Hazard. Services were at Engle-Walker Funeral Home on Thursday. Cremation followed. *******************************************
