Barbara Jean Fugate, 82, passed away on Monday, July 2 at her residence in Bulan. She was a retired nurse from the Knott County Nursing Home . She was the daughter of the late William Combs and the late Mary Ellen Vermillion Combs, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Reva Smith, and brother Odis Combs. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Fugate; sons William Michael Fugate and wife Betty of South Charleston, WV, and Larry Douglas Fugate and wife Sandra of Jacksonville, Fl.; daughter Jennifer Jones and husband Clifford of Lost Creek; sister-in-law Vaudia Combs of Tribbey, along with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the funeral service was held on Friday, July 6 with Rev. Johnny Ambrose officiating. Burial took place at the Riverside Cemetery in Hazard. William Jesse Combs was the s/o Samuel Ray Brashears "Ray B" Combs and Armelda Ritchie.
