He was a retired milk truck driver for Chappel, and the son of the late Ezekil Ritchie and the late Rachel Jones Ritchie. He is survived by his wife, Maggie Ritchie; daughters Gary Gail McLaughin and Linda Holbrook; sons John Ritchie, Howard Ritchie and Alex Ritchie; sisters Polly Easterling and Mildred Rice; brothers Virgil Ritchie, Jarsh Ritchie, Charles Ritchie, Edmond Ritchie and Donnie Ray Ritchie; grandchildren Ramona Ann Goodlett, Sean Derrick Ritchie, Malcom Perkins, Ashley Bales, Billy Bales, Missy Fields, Rebecca Stacy and Leanne Williams; special great-grandchildren Trystan Cody Ray Carty and great-grandchildren Kristen Paige Goodlett, Sydney Fields and Logan Cole Fields. Interment will be at Jackson Cemetery in Jackson. ******************************************* Violet Williams Rose Violet Williams Rose went to be with Yahweh on March 20, 2011 at the Laurels Nursing Home in Charlottesville, Virginia, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 16, 1922 in Hazard. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and was a public school teacher for two years in Perry County, 17 years in Wolfe County, and 13 years in Fayette County at Russell Cave Elementary, retiring in 1989. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Rose, Sr., and by her dear granddaughter Marian Gale Johnson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jan Rose Heeg and Nathaniel Heeg of Seattle, Wa., her daughter Marianne Rose of Columbia, SC, and her son and daughter-in-law C. Edward and Karren Young Rose of Charlottesville, Va.; grandchildren Kathryn Rose Fallis of Raleigh, NC, Charles E. Rose, III, M.D. of Lexington, Elizabeth Rose Heeg and Rebekah Rose Heeg of Seattle; and four great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by the countless students she influenced in her classrooms. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 in the chapel at Centenary United Methodist Church, 2800 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, Ky, officiated by Rev. Tom Grieb. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Lexington, Ky. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 25 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, Ky. ********************************************* David Olinger Sr. David "D.Y." Olinger, Sr. departed this life on Monday, March 21. He was born in Hazard on March 10, 1926, the son of George "Dock" Olinger and Georgia Bell (Combs) Olinger, who preceded him in death. D.Y., as he was warmly known, accepted Jesus as his savior at an early age and became a member of First Baptist Church of Town Mountain. He attended Liberty High School in Hazard, and then later completed technical school. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 where he served as gunner's mate during World War II. He was united in marriage to his teenage sweetheart, Zetta Olinger, to which two sons and two daughters were born. D.Y. worked as a coal miner for approximately 15 years. He began his career in the health care field in 1962, and during the last 14 years served as the ARH stores supervisor, retiring from ARH in 1989. He liked knowing that he participated in providing quality patient care. D.Y. was ordained a deacon of the First Baptist Church Town Mountain and served as the chairman of the deacon board from 1979 until his death. In additional service to God and His church, over several years he lovingly served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, president of the usher board and treasurer. As a Gideon he enjoyed sharing Bibles with people of all walks of life. D.Y. was known for his patience and kindness, which are virtues that touched many people. In all his relationships these qualities were evident. He was always willing to help out in any situation and set an example for others to follow. He was an outdoorsman and liked spending his leisure time fishing, hunting, gardening and sharing time with his family. He was also preceded in death by sisters Dosha (Bill) Combs, Myrtle (Van) Smith, Alma (Leo) McBee, Hazel (Marshall) Jarnigan and Nancy Brown; brothers Nanon (Willie) Olinger, Guy (Edna) Olinger and Edgar (Lena) Olinger. He leaves to cherish his memory a brother, A.B. Olinger of Lexington. He leaves to mourn his death a beloved and faithful wife of 63 years, Zetta Haggins Olinger; sons David, Jr. and wife Betty of Berea and Glenn (the late Hazel) of Lexington; daughter Deborah Olinger, preceding him in death, and Millie Turner and husband Jeff of Indianapolis; grandchildren Tony (Keisha) Olinger of Atlanta, Roslyn (Russell) Glover of Richmond, Ky., Jonathan Olinger of Atlanta and Whitney Turner of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren Daqan Brown of Lexington, Christina and Camille VanLeer of Atlanta, Jalia Glover of Richmond and Victoria Olinger of Atlanta. Also left to mourn are a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other family and friends. *********************************************** Teabitha Smith Jett Teabitha Smith Jett completed her circle of life at home on Gays Creek on March 21, 2011. Mommy was 88 years of age and the wife of the late Ford Jett. She was survived by her brother, Paul Smith of San Jose, Ca., and 10 children: Pierce Jett of Gays Creek, Sophia Jett Spicer of Lexington, In., Nancy Begley Deaton of Altro, Paul Jett of Madison, In., Wanda Jett Martin of Dry Ridge, Marie Jett Maggard of Krypton, Jim Jett of Indianapolis, Virgie Baker of Gays Creek, Janet Jett Miller of Indianapolis and Sarah Faye Jett, also of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her father, Sammy Smith, and mother Sarah Jane (West) Smith; brothers Silas (Roosevelt), Taylor and Fred Smith; sisters Maudie Witt and Virgie Nease; sons Ray and June Jett; daughters Elizabeth Burns Todd and Christine McCoy; great-grandsons Thomas Gay and Grayson Paul Earl Jett. She is also survived by grandchildren Ricky, Linda, Curt, Tubby, Donnie, Lester, Larry, Nancy, Glen, James, Melissa, Mildred, Michael, Phyllis, Gail, Lisa, Steven, Angela, Greg, Shannon, Paul Brian, Nicole, Tammy, Debbie, Carrie Ann, Sim Jeffery, Jennifer, Shonda, Danille, Stacy, Tara, April, Tasha, Hankie, Gray, Dusty and Shane. She was a retired school teacher and the daughter of the late Sam Ritchie and the late Ellen Fuller Ritchie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bruce Maggard; sisters Sophia, Oshia and Doshia; and brothers Travis, Mart, Willard, Monroe, Hubert and Corbett. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen M. Young and husband John Charles; son Sam Maggard and wife Connie; sister Lorena Mullins; and grandchildren Stephanie P. She was the daughter of the late Orbie Jones and the late Florence Combs Jones. She was also preceded in death by brothers Sam, Paul and James Marcum Jones. He was a retired coal miner and the son of the late Bentley Williams and the late Mallie Cornett Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ida Williams; son-in-law Jerry Adams, Sr. and daughter-in-law Kimberly Williams. He was a retired coal miner and son of the late William Neace and the late Katie Neace. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Hudson, five sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Neace; daughters Charlene Spencer, Teresa Neace and Kim Joseph; sons Pete Neace, Jr., Danny Hudson, Lowell Neace, Larry Neace and James Earl Neace; stepson Delbert J. Colwell; stepdaughter Alicia Colwell; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He was self employed in the trucking business and the son of the late Arvel Flannery and the late Thelma Flannery. He was also preceded in death by sister Shirley Hibbard and Beulah Taylor, and grandchildren Nevaeh and Mae. He is survived by his wife, Beatice Flannery; daughters Barbara S. Lunsford, Betty Nistler and husband Randall, Teresa A. Pence, Audrey J. Troyer, Pamela R. Hunter and husband Michael and Martha L. Johnson; son Michael Flannery and wife Deloris; sister Marjorie J. She was the daughter of Glenn Price and Leila Woods Price, and is also survived by her daughter, Abbey Mayabb Pryor and husband Andrew; sons Zach Bond and Seth Mayabb; sister Glenda Howell; brother Larry Price and grandchildren Liam Pryor and Penelope Pryor.
