Lynda, I live in florida and our library has an online search for newspaper archives, it's free! The smaller towns in Kentucky only go back to about 2006 but Lexington and larger cities go back alot further. Do you want me to look something up for you? There is a library in Conneticut that I use to have a subscription for and a few years ago it is $80.00 for a year but they have the really old newspaper searches that go back to the 1800's.
