Lynda According to Paul's obit, Gladys was a Walker. Carter Paul Combs, 87, of 1575 Scotts Ferry East, husband of Gladys Walker Combs, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at his home. A native and former resident of Hazard, he was the son of the late Sam and Martha Walker Combs. He was the former owner and operator of Combs Motor Freight in Hazard for many years. At his retirement, he moved to Bowling Green for several years prior to living in Versailles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lois Dean Combs, Versailles; a son, Aubrey Dale Combs, Louisville; six grand-daughters, Ricky Gay, Karla Calvert, Wendy Birch, Tracy Ricket, Kelly Gray, and April Head; tow sisters, Edith Joseph, Hazard, and Nola Hunt, Columbus, Ohio; and 11 great grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday, March 25, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Hazard by Dr Leslie Holland. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Hazard. Maggard Brothers Funeral Home in Hazard was in charge of arrangements.
