The Sentinel Echo July 2, 2004 Walter Arthur Ward Painting Contractor Walter Arthur (Dub) Ward, 68, Pompano Beach, Florida, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Pompano Beach, Florida. Born May 6, 1936 in Perry County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late James F. (Frank) and Beatrice E. Slorf Ward. Mr. Ward served as a painting contractor in Ashland, Kentucky prior to retirement in Pompano Beach, Florida. He attended Fariston and Bush Elementary Schools, London and Hazard High Schools, and Lindsey Wilson and the University of Kentucky. His favorite past-times were basketball, which he played fervently well into his 60's, and golf. Survivors include two sons, Michael David Ward and Mark Ellis Ward, both of Pompano Beach, Fla; a grandson, Lucas Allen Ward, Ashland, Ky; a great-grandson, Lucas Japheth Ward, Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Yvonne Ward Bryant, Lake Wylie, S.C.; and a brother, Shelby E. Ward, Lexington. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ramon E. Ward. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thomas Kim officiating. Burial will follow in the Norville Cemetery, London.
