Hello Looking for confirmation about a Harlan County Battalion death of a JAMES LEWIS, as related by Ella V. Preston in a Civil War memoir on Don Chesnut's page. She says in late autumn, at a log house near BIG COWAN, a fight between Harlan Co. Battalion and Confederates killed James Lewis (Union) and JOHN COLLIER (Confederate) Lewis was buried the next day at Maggard Cemetery on the Cumberland River. Could this be the Battle of Leatherwood? When is the re-enactment? If it's the last weekend in October, I can't attend, but can someone help find info on this story?
