Author: bsj41 Surnames: Johnston, Pennington Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kentucky.counties.perry/5290/mb.ashx Message Board Post: At the Johnson Cemetery, off River Road near Buckhorn, there is a new marker for Samuel Johnston born in 1808 and some of his children. His father, Samuel Johnston, born 1777 is also listed in Perry County cemetery records as being in the same cemetery. There is a photo posted on the internet of his headstone that says that it is located in the Johnson Cemetery. Both headstones are new. The one for Samuel Johnston born 1808 and his children has been relocated to the far end of the cemetery to make room for a new pavilion. Can anyone tell me where Samuel Johnston 1777 marker is located? Is it in the same cemetery? Also, are there photos or other documentation that show the location of the original gravesite and the headstones that must have been removed? Who was responsible for moving the remains? Thanks to anyone who can help us with this. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I also wanted to say I also have an Estil Combs s/o David and Mary. The 1930 census does show that your listed Zola was 3 years old which would make her born abt 1927. I see too that there is an Elhanon as a brother to Zola which was still living per obit. Both Estill's were from Perry Co., so I probably just had the wrong Estill connected with Zola. I questioned the fact because I have 3 Zola Combs. 1 born 1895, d/o David Yancy, 1 born 1899, d/o Logan and Edith Taylor-Combs, 1 born abt 1927 d/o Estill Combs, the s/o Logan and Edith. The 1927 date fits, according to her obit and her age given in the obit. Waht ya think? Your the expert. I just want to make sure I have the correct connection.
